McGuire opts out of GF commentary

There'll be a tribute to Lou at half time to Celebrate his 80th Birthday.
I must be getting old, i can still remember watching him on World of Sport on a Sunday afternoon, and now i can't believe he's turning 80!
Let's give him a GREAT WIN as a birthday present! |

Hear ! Hear !
A Cup Final win is the ONLY fitting present for such a great Collingwood icon.
Lou Richards is my ALL-TIME favourite footy commentator. He may not have been as big on the scientific analysis as these modern day wankers but what the hell ...
.... In fact, I think that might be the reason I liked him so much. He just called the action and didn't try to give you some academic dissertation on what was happening. It was showbiz ... and Lou was real STAR.
Happy Birthday for Saturday, Lou ... and may you have MANY MANY MORE. |

Agree entirely Dr Alf. The good old days when they called the action - not the crap that Dermie now comes out with - prattles on about the bleedin' obvious and then some obscure theory that no one gives a flyin' about - meanwhile a cuppla goals have been scored and the siren's gone!

I liked the league teams with Louie, Bob Davis, and Jack Dyer, very funny and I never knew who was in or out most of the time. My Dad became a Collingwood supporter after seeing Lou play at Windy hill, he liked the niggle provided by Lou and the other Collingwood players. |

This is just a suggestion: The Cheer Squad should sing Happy Birthday to Lou Richards at Half time....maybe this will get everyone else going?? Can you imagine the whole of the "G" singing Happy B'day to Lou Richards, it will be touching! Lou is one of the greats of Collingwood and hopefully the boys will pull off a HUGE win over the Crows for him. What a gift that would be!! What a great idea Angelina04, but i think we should all wait until the Tribute finishes and then the CS can start the singing and it can go all round the ground. |
