His whole focus should be on winning the Copeland trophy and he's good enough to do it, but he needs to play consistent footy to do it, which up till now he hasn't done. Treloar does it. Pendles does it. Swanny did it. Now it's up to him to do it.

why should his focus be on an individual award. Shouldnt his focus be on winning a flag? or making his team-mates (and the team as a whole) play better.

Maynard is growing into one of my favourite players. It will be interesting to see whether the coaches keep him in defence, or whether they try to play him in the midfield on a more frequent basis this year.

He looked good in the middle when we played Melbourne in our final match last year but clearly he needs to keep building up his fitness to have any chance of playing midfield frequently, but he didn't look out of his depth in that role and I'd like to see us persist with it if we can.

Entering his fourth year now, I think he's tracking along well with his development and I look forward to seeing him make further progress and maturity.

But I wish our club would ban all player interviews during September.

I suspect that this is Pendlebury's influence. Pendlebury has done the same thing for over 300 games and 14 years. It has helped him better understand his opposition, the game and helped identify where he can improve. It is the type of studious action that a true professional adopts consistently.

Bright future for Bruzz.

And a recent post Sidey and Tay 4 captain

Blokes with Bruzz,s intense and deep delving into the nitty gritty is potential material for that role (would it temper by his own admission his “white line fever”)

Gee whiz, hope they're just drawings and not like The Taylor diaries, he might find himself on the outer come selection time like Old Bristle.

Maynard has a mark of the year nomination from Sunday.

He had a great game on the ground and in the air on Sunday.

I saw that some responded in the match day but thought the nomination deserved a thread.

Well done!

I like IQ's forearm to the shoulder blades of the Freo player.

^ not sure there wasn't a free kick there - but I'll take it.

Liking IQ in the backline - he's going to be a great player for us
