what amazed me more about pendles game for the big v was the fact he only got a little over 50% game time, so his 19 posessions is even more impressive. The way he handballs out of traffic and brings others into the play who really cares if he doesn't kick the ball at all, he will become (if not already) the architect of our midfield. _________________ SA MAGPIES MEMBER

Totally agree The Truth. I think Pendles has to be far more damaging with the ball or he'll suffer Dal Santo's fate. However, as a 3rd year player, he is progressing more than nicely.
Would love to see him becoming a goal kicker or the guy bringing the ball inside 50, as opposed to him picking up the loosey's across half back or sideways kicking in the midfield _________________ There's more to life than footy.........just not much more. |

If he does have a predisposition to short kicks...it just further highlights the brilliance of Nathan Buckley. RARELY kicked the ball short, yet still managed to be the most accurate kick ive ever seen.
You'd sell your soul for 5 more years from Bucks. |

Actually just one more thing on Pendles...he may simply be TOO team oriented, or too selfless. He brings players into the game probably better than anyone else in our midfield with his perfectly timed handballs, and precision passing..but maybe he needs to get a bit more selfish.
If he played with more arrogance, he wouldn't bother going for the 'team' option and would instead think the team is better off with him doing it all himself. Evading tackles and then running off, driving kicks inside 50 and shots on goal instead of passess would result. His clearances would probably also pick up.
Its certainly not a criticism...but maybe he needs a bit more FIG JAM. |

At least he hits targets, he actually kicks it to other players. Unlike some of our players...just watch how calm and collected he is under pressure.
Pendlebury's a champ! |

i would like to see both he and lonie in that role - given the ball by our in and unders to drive it into the forward 50. with an improved delivery to our forwards cloke and rocca would be nigh on unstoppable.
we're already the 4th highest scoring team. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

I've noticed it too a lot of causal kicks on the half back. |

Zakal said it best, needs to be more selfish, he brings others into the game but we need to see him take the game on a little more and he has the class to do it. _________________ Daicos, this is when he's at his best, the MAAASSSTTTTTEEERRR!!! |

I'm a bit worried about his half back flank possessions which all seem to result in a little chip back or sideways. We need him delivering sharp and long inside 50. |

Okay I'll say this much: I'm sick and tired of the amount of negativity after a loss. Head over to bigfooty and get a load of this sort of shit:

However, I do kind of agree with this thread. Pendlebury is close to our best user of the ball, and I wouldn't want anyone else hitting our forwards. He is averaging just under 2 long kicks per game this year (18th at the club), compared to guys like Ablett, Mitchell, C.Cornes, McLeod, Bartel, Burgoyne etc. who all average over 5 long kicks per game. He does have it in him, because I've seen him hit targets around 50m away several times, he just chooses the shorter option more often than not. Hopefully he becomes our number 1 deliverer of the pill inside 50... as opposed to Johnson, R.Shaw, Obree and Swan who are all ahead of him in this regard. _________________ "We're goin places." |
