Terribly sad news. Billy went my high school Melbourne Boys High School for his HSC year. He was a lovely bloke and the friendliest of the many VFL 1st, 2nd and 3rds players the school had in the 70’s

Con Britt was a favourite when I was a little tacker going to Vic Park

Oh dear 😢 He will be running towards heaven screaming his catch cry “here comes Billy”. Will always remember him as the baby faced boy from McArthur in Western Victoria, grabbing great high marks. RIP legend.
Also Con Britt, a strong defender with Jeff Clifton and Doug Gott. Sad day.

Billy No 25, Con was 27, both champions, cant believe Billy is gone, taken far too early, how very sad. I hope the team can win for them both tomorrow, i really do.

No !

I do not remember Con Britt well, but I saw practically every game Billy played in his pomp, and vividly recall the front-page picture of him in his school uniform on the day he was selected for his first game. He can’t be gone. Such a wonderful player, a kind of cross between Geoffrey Howe and Darcy Moore.

My childhood hero. Billy 25 Picken on my first duffle coat. My Mum used to laugh at me as to how many times I got it his autograph. RIP

So sad to hear this news. Spent many days at Vic Park watching Billy plucking balls from out of the sky - an absolute wall in defence when on his game, and Con Britt was a red-headed terrier and non-stop attacker when on the ball. RIP Billy and Con and thank you both for many years of sheer enjoyment watching you both.

Both were way too young to die.

Con Britt was a real terrier in the forward pocket. As for Billy, well he was one of our club's all-time favourite players. Legend has it that he would yell out on the field "look out, here comes Billy" before flying for a screamer. Apart from Howe, he was the best and most consistent specky mark player we've had. His beaming smile will be remembered by all of us who followed the Maggies back in the 70s and 80s.

Billy was only 66. This breaks my heart, such a terrific bloke on and off field.

Absolutely gut wrenching and so young! What the hell is going on with all these young people passing away ? He was a true Collingwood angel! Rest In Peace Billy.

When Billy came onto the ground he mostly always spewed up.
Overly nervous.
Of all the matchups that I have seen nothing was better than Billy vs McClure.
Black and white flowed thru his veins.
A great player but not a great kick he was my favorite collingwood player of all time.
RIP Biilly and may you smash that carlton rabbit McClure for eternity in heaven.
