A champion team AND a team of champions!!

Matthew Hayden had a great year, 6 centuries, over 1000 runs and averaged over 60 in Tests and graduated to the number 1 rated batsman in the world in one-dayers and came fourth.

Ricky Ponting did a touch better on aggregate and average in Tests did a great job as captain of the one-day team and came second.

Shane Warne took over 60 wickets @ 18 in Tests and came third.

Glen McGrath, Justin Langer and Jason Gillespie came somewhere after that.

Well done, Adam Gilchrist! He will look back at this award and be extremely proud, not that he isn't already.

I'd like to add this. If Warney hadn't missed the last two Tests and the last 4 or 5 one-dayers, he would probably have won.

So he may not have spoken fluently but at least he was genuine!!!

I'm with Kristin on Gillys speech. For someone as well spoken as he is it wasn't one of his better ones. He rambled on forever about nothing.

LoL I agree with you Fradam about Richie opening the envelope to tell us who the winner was when we already knew that was driving me absolutely mad! As for Gilly's speech geez I don't know what you guys could expect sure he was rambling and repeating but give the guy a break he was shocked and nervous and wasn't expecting it! I get scared talking in front of a small group of people so I don't know how these guys do it to be honest! Well done Gilly!

Yeah, we understand eh, Mrs Taz. About addressing a small number of people.

Gee, I remember Slats giving a speech to a certain Indian batsman. He was saying all sorts of strange things, rambling and repeating.

He was shocked and nervous and wasn't expecting it. The Indian, that is. Lol.
