Symonds is only in because he can bowl a bit of off spin as well as medium. He only needs to bowl a few overs a match, because Lehmann, Martyn and Bevan can all pitch in with some useful overs as well.

also he is an excellent fielder and can do a lot of damage with the bat.

Yeah he has the potential to do damage with the bat. Question is when has actual damage been caused ?? County Cricket does not count.

Potential is a dangerous word as sometimes it never eventuates. The selectors make a big fuss about form and Australia A yet Symonds has done nothing to vindicate selection.

Australia will struggle against a team like South Africa, New Zealand etc to get 10 overs out of Lehmann, Watson, Martyn, Bevan, Symonds etc etc.

JLC. We all know you don't like Watson and Symonds being in the WC squad. It's a bit tedious to keep reading it, m8.

They've been selected and they're going to the World Cup. Good on 'em! Congratulations to the 15 chosen to represent their country!

There'll always be some players considered unlucky to miss out - Harvey,Waugh,Hauritz etc. - and vice versa - Hogg,Symonds,Watson etc. but that's the selected squad so let's get behind them and be positive - unless you're Clokey, of course, who backed the Windies to win at 20/1. Lol.

Thats fine you are entitled to your opinion. Im sure if the results don't go as planned or Australia doesn't reach the final i won't be the only person sounding tedious.

Someone has to tell Symonds to fake an injury for the good of his country so that we can bring Harvey in. Harvey and Symonds always dissapoint with the bat so you take the better bowler which Harvey clearly is.

ok lets wait till the World Cup then see ok.

From what i have seen he seems a bit one paced ? Doesnt seem to have a great variety in terms of pace ?

By the way if he couldnt bowl well in front of his home crowd with 15,000 people cheering his name on his home wicket then he will never bowl well.

I still think the person that won the game for Australia was Ian Blackwell for England. England were crusing to victory until Blackwell came in and hogged the strike and looked totally at sea. All he seemed capable of doing was a sweep shot. Prior to him hogging the strike Trescothick was playing great and England were miles in front. Blackwell caused unnecessary pressure on the rest of the England batting line up.

Hopefully Hussain or Stweart or the coach has a word to him and explains the basics to the poor boy.

M8, have you considered the Aussie bowling that Blackwell faced? After all, he's not a frontline batsman and what the hell was he doing out there anyway?!

After the opening stand, England were in a position to cruise to a win. They had absolutely no reason to use Blackwell where they did. The Aussies capitalised on a mistake.
