I think from winning this Test Match England will go on and win the Tri series competiton.

Michael Vaughan will be back in the one day team to bolster the batting. McGrath, Gilesppie and Warne are all under injury clouds. Watson and Bichel will be more heavily relied upon and they will crumble.

Englands confidence should be riding high and this will should help them win the tournament

Barmy Army is open to everyone but i havnt been to the cricket season this year. I would go to the one dayers but i work which makes it hard as i would only get the evening session and plus the crowd at one dayers are a disgrace.

I wouldnt mind seeing Australia lose as maybe this will give them a wake up call leading into World Cup.

Australia is 4/171 in the 35th. over against England in Hobart. Bevan was just dismissed for 52 and Martyn is 51 n.o.

Earlier, Gilly made 2,Ponting,15 and Hayden was c&b for 21.

Martyn and Maher added 100 in the last 15 overs to give the Aussies a good total of 4/271. Marto's century came with a deft turn 'around the corner' to the boundary from Caddick's last ball. He made 101 n.o. in 114 balls. This was a top knock in any case but extra good considering the early demise of our most 3 dynamic batsmen.

Maher gave great support after taking 12 balls to get off the mark. He scored 49 from 37 balls after that.

Blackwell cost England the game. Sent in as a pinch hitter he had no idea and used up valuable balls and kept Trescothick off strike.

Aussies did well to fight back and win the game.

What a stirring effort from Shane Watson in front of his home crowd in that last over. Ponting asked for the big effort and he delivered!! No sign of crumbling, at all. He's young and learning quickly.

He who laughs last laughs the loudest. There is a big difference between bowling in a park in your home state compared to bowling in foreign territory.

If Australia doesnt return home with world cup i will have every quote lined up.

FLETCHER TO SPLIT OPENERS FOR VAUGHAN

England coach Duncan Fletcher looks set to split up his side's successful opening pair to accommodate Michael Vaughan against Sri Lanka.

Despite Marcus Trescothick and Nick Knight sharing successive stands in excess of 100 in their latest VB Series matches, the latter is to be shifted down the order.

The form of all three has proved a huge problem for coach Fletcher and captain Nasser Hussain but Vaughan's awesome Ashes aggregate of 613 runs means Warwickshire left-hander Knight is pencilled to come in at first wicket down.

"That is probably what we will have to look at," admitted Fletcher. "Sometimes you have to look at where you want to go in the long-term and we may have to look at the left-hand, right-hand combination.

"There has got to be an advantage of that combination and they have batted well together in Test cricket."

However, Vaughan has never batted higher than number four in a one-day international and should he be deemed fit for the day-nighter at the Adelaide Oval, it will be his first appearance in the triangular tournament.

Having missed the ICC Champions Trophy to undergo surgery on his right knee, he was rested for the matches before Christmas and the resumption in the new year because the joint continues to cause discomfort.

"I have had 12 days of rehab and strengthening around the knee after it flared up following back-to-back Test matches," said Vaughan, who scored the first of his three Ashes hundreds at this ground in November.

"I am fit and available for selection and this is a massive game, whoever wins tomorrow has one foot in the final. We have played some good cricket against Sri Lanka in this series - I know we lost in Sydney the other day - but we have beaten them twice so hopefully we will play like we did in Perth and Brisbane."

England can all but book their place in the best-of-three finals with victory over a Sri Lankan side without Muttiah Muralitharan once again. He limped out of yesterday's four-wicket defeat to Australia with a thigh strain and is likely to be sidelined for a week.

Fletcher added of the contest: "I always thought it would boil down to the fact we have to beat them here. This is the crucial game and even if they had won yesterday we would still have been ahead of them with the bonus points if we do win this one."

However, England could also take advantage of Australia's decision to rest captain Ricky Ponting, opener Matthew Hayden and paceman Brett Lee for Sunday's encounter, also in Adelaide.

Today's match between Australia and England will be keenly watched by Sri Lanka.

For them to have any chance of making the finals, Australia must win AND get a bonus point. In so doing, they would deny England their point for losing which would then give Sri Lanka the tough (but not out of the question) task of having to beat the Aussies, with a bonus point, to go past England.

Their prospects have not been enhanced by the Aussies losing Glen McGrath (injury) and Darren Lehmann (susp) and resting Ricky Ponting and Matt Hayden for today's game.

Nathan Bracken and Michael Clarke come into the team and their performances will be closely watched by all, particularly Clarke as some will not have seen him play yet.

Interesting. Did anyone think, before about the time Warney did his shoulder, that our frontline bowling attack would be Lee, Williams, Bracken and Hogg!??

As I looked closer at the team, I could see only Gilly, Martyn, Bevan and Lee remaining from our 'first XI' so then I began to see the Oz A team with the addition of those four above named players and thought - look out England!!

And so it was to go. After 11.2 overs from Williams and Bracken, England were on the ropes at 4/40! Trescothic (6),Vaughan (21),Hussain(0, after being given not out when he nicked his first ball from Williams to Gilchrist) and Knight (11) were all gone. Bracken had 3/18 and Williams, 1/19

Stewart just couldn't find the middle of the bat and after using up 38 deliveries, fell to Watson for 6. Watson then bowled Blackwell for a duck. England are 6/73 after 25 overs and Watson has 2/18 from 6 overs.

England all out for 152 in 48.3 overs. Paul Collingwood remained not out 63. Gilly captained brilliantly and used his bowlers well, as the following figures show.
