Currently the 28 yr old is having an excellent WAFL career average of 33 hit outs & 18 disposals per game
Due to Suns loss of big man power thru injuries he has been mentioned as mid season pick up for them _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Amazing how many players (think Freeman, Gault etc) seem to just destroy the lower leagues but can't make it at the top level. Always felt like Gault showed a heap of potential but could never quite get it done at the elite level. _________________ Side By Side Forever |

Crocker kicked 7 on the weekend... and we need some scoring power...
Reality is though that for some players, that form doesn't translate to the AFL. They are great State league players but can't take the next step.
Jackson Ramsay has been tearing up the WAFL as a pure mid, Jye Bolton has become a dual Sandover medalist and was best afield in last seasons SANFL Grand Final.
Some players maybe need that extra time to develop and could benefit from a second chance - look at J-Pod! |

Sure is! Swan Districts have had a pretty handy start to the season too, which is great!
Gault is an excellent WAFL player, but the difference between WAFL & AFL is huge these days.
Back in the 80's, the WAFL was on par with the VFL and I have no doubt that the Swan Districts, triple premiership side of '82, '83 & '84 would have easily accounted for most, if not all of the VFL sides of the same era.
He's 28 now and his playing days are at WAFL level for the rest of his career. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

3rds is his manager, so I'm sure we could easily re-sign him. |

i would hope that the duds we delisted were at least better than the players that play in state leagues. The idea that a rejected AFL player would star at any other level should really be a given, since the others couldnt even get onto a list in the first place. how bad would it look if we had players on our list who werent even as good as the players a league or two down???

Sometimes it’s season by season
Chris Mayne in his little part of the world (Freo) was good
Came to us —a dud we said
Another season he’s indispensable
OK one example but bet there are others _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

I think the influx of mature-aged VFL players in recent years who have gone on to do well at AFL level (e.g. Brody Mihocek) has shown that there actually is a fair crossover in skill between the two levels. So it's probably not the case at all that every AFL player is categorically better than every VFL player, or that someone who couldn't make it at AFL level will automatically star at VFL level. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace

I was a little surprised that Ramsay wasn’t given longer at Collingwood. He showed way more capability than other players we kept on the list for years. I’m not saying he would have “made it” but he was playing solid senior football before his injury and never got another real chance. |

Just that GC have Witts out for the season and need a ruckman. They can't be choosy. |

Ramsay played some very good games but post injury never regained his confidence. Injuries interrupted any capacity to string some games together. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |
