Great news for the club and well done JDG you did owe us some loyalty but you've repaid that debt now mate
2 years makes sense both Sidey and Pendles will be on there last contract then and won't be commanding max dollars so he can more then. He won't be underpaid now but he wasn't worth a million a year either at this stage of his career
The timing of this is important too. A few injuries and an important month of footy that could define our finals chances. This signature gives us some clear air and let's the players focus on footy
Now time to get the Moore deal done and we are set up for the future with all the important and required players locked away and we can head into the draft and trade period just locking for a couple pieces |

INXS88 - isn't that what you crapped on about ALL preseason???? |

While I’m glad he didn’t, I would have taken the money. 5 million guaranteed for 5 years even if I blow an ACL, or get real bad concussions like Sinclair.
And even if things go right and he turns into the superstar we hope he’d be 27 and looking at another million plus pa contract.
Anyway, good on him. I hope we can deliver the flags that will make it all sweet. _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better |

I think what the media often overlook is that the figures bandied about are just his salary. At a club like Collingwood, because of our massive support base, there will be marketing opportunities to earn a shit load on top of any salary, and much more than could be earned playing for a lesser club like the Roos. Long term, as well, a Collingwood Premiership legend, is likely to be set up for life. |

Great solution for both parties.
If he continues to improve and becomes one of the best players in the comp (which I feel he can) he'll get a monster contract from us after this one. |
