You do realize North have made him donate $2k, go alcohol-free 6 mths and undertake alcohol education, right? ...

You do realise that Collingwood made Jordan pay $20,000 , $10K suspended I believe ,alcohol education program,Community service work, banned from training, banned for12 months from drinking, publicly humiliated by the club and President as well as what he will receive when he fronts court as well as further media hysteria and bleeding heart supporters saying it's not enough.YES!! I do realise.
...

Yes, I know what Collingwood's penalty was. Are you unhappy with every aspect of it, or do you think the total is excessive, or what? He was fined $10k (it would have been $5k if it was a first offence) and agreed to donate $10k to charity. The AFLPA said his penalty was okay with them. How did the president and club humiliate him? Please be specific. ...

The truth is that it's highly likely his manager, B. Niall (who has considerable experience in handling difficult clients), suggested much of that punishment himself. He did that because he knew the facts of his client's case and knew he had to put something on the table to head off a far worse outcome for his client.

...

It seems you are ducking and weaving a bit.You asked quite animatedly if I knew that Simpkins was fined $2000 dollars.Do You think that was enough for nearly killing someone. Never once have I said poor JDG.He has done a stupid thing and should be punished and he's getting that in spades.Taylor Adams saying they'd like to KILL him.very leader like!!
My only problem is they have banished him to the reserves like a bad little boy and made him do a job he is neither trained to do or suitable for and in using different muscle groups, bending and lifting, has caused him a hamstring injury. Fines, working with rehab groups and working hard with your workmates to prove your worth I agree with 100%, suspending him from the group is retrograde and will achieve zero. He will be dealt with in the courts, he will be dealt with in the media and he is continually being dealt with by a narrow minded supporter base. I'm willing to bet that the "Get rid of dustin Martin" mob who wanted to get rid of him when he was transgressing as a KID would still be in hiding.
Just as an after thought on his humilialation.even the podcast I just listened was sickening and as weak as piss. Adams saying they could have "KILLED him ,etc If he had have had any brains, he would have said it's all been said, he's been punished ,I will make no further comment.Time to move on and let this KID!!! get on with his life.End of story. We all know he stuffed up.Get over it.

I've never ducked and weaved. Quite frankly, there hasn't been a need or opportunity to duck and weave. If you think that single-sentence question I asked (copied at the top of this post) is "animated", I guess that puts your JDG "humiliation" claims into some sort of context. But do you really believe your lines about "running into" and "nearly killing" the motorcyclist?

Simpkin and Martin are not our problem. How their clubs deal with them is their clubs' business. As I've previously said, though, if people wish to invoke other clubs' players, the established canonical example for the last decade has been Stevie J. (Incidentally, JDG's not actually going to court. I don't think that's particularly relevant to this discussion, though.)

JDG was not made to do the landscaping job. He was made to do some job and that particular one suited him because he hates officework. Maybe they should have made him do officework from the start because he hates it.

How do you think JDG is being dealt with by a "narrow-minded supporter base"? The primary discussion here is about the appropriateness or otherwise of his punishment, not about (say) his fundamental worth as a human being, although such a discussion necessarily does involve at least some acknowledgment of what he actually did. Debating his punishment is not humiliating him. It's also valid to discuss the wisdom or otherwise of Tay's words, but it's somewhat odd that you think JDG has been humiliated while at the same time thinking it's fine to describe Tay's words as "sickening" and as "weak as piss".

Bottom line is the pies screwed up by allowing a punishment that has caused an injury! It was stupid. DeGoey is too valuable a player. Amateurish!

Allegedly! Yes, I'm warming to the idea they should have forced him into an office from the start to maximize his punishment and save his feeble hamstrings.

Yes, you're giving me images of Ablett Sr. in a chain gang in a prisoner-of-war camp. Stupid! Amateurish!

JORDAN de Goey's exile will end at the start of next week as he builds towards a senior return at Collingwood.

The utility will miss round one because of a hamstring injury, but captain Scott Pendlebury says de Goey's club suspension for drink driving is about to end.

"He comes back into the club on Monday, but from all reports he is going well and the training he was doing with the VFL was really good until he hurt that hammy," Pendlebury said.

More to come.

That's exactly the way it should be with the leadership group deciding his punishment and now lifting his punishment as of next week.

We should all be welcoming his return to the senior group training as of next Monday and hope he has learned a very valuable lesson from the community in that you don't drink and drive.

The utility will miss round one because of a hamstring injury, but captain Scott Pendlebury says de Goey's club suspension for drink driving is about to end.

"He comes back into the club on Monday. Except for the fact that we flogged him so hard in training with the VFL (and his manual labor gig) that he tore his hamstring and now cannot train AT ALL, the training was really good," Pendlebury said.

"The leadership group looks forward to causing injuries to any other player found to have breached our code of ethics!!. We thank the club for allowing us to come up with such a novel approach to the problem. ensuring that our 21 yo star has hamstring issues the rest of his career will be great news to many of the playing group, especially the players who will now get more regular games during the times of the recurrence of this injury. We thank Jaryd Blair for helping to advise the leadership group on the punishment we decided on. Thanks also to the football department for staying out of this decision and letting players with no knowledge of player welfare make this decision."

The AFL web site is reporting that De Goey is back training with the seniors this morning.

(The link below also has a video of De Goey at today's training session in which he looks a bit under done - appears a little flabby around the girth and lacking muscle tone)

EXILED Mapgie Jordan De Goey has returned to the training track as he looks to overcome a hamstring setback.

De Goey was back with the senior squad on Monday after a four-week club suspension for drink-driving.

The 22-year-old tested his hamstring in the individual lunchtime session at the club's Olympic Park headquarters.

De Goey has been ruled out for at least round one after sustaining the injury at VFL training on March 6...

He's not ripped, but some people just aren't built that way.

Dusty for example. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHmlby18GsU
