Stewart is the 3rd banana he often is getting ignored for Mccarthy and Cameron and rightly so both higher talents. Stewart on the occasions the ball is directed through him has in fact looked good and he is also performing well in the 2nds.
He stuffed up due to our lack of developing tall forwards and not testing the waters with a relative free hit at Stewart. Now if he then deemed him not worthy of pick 38 (which we now know he clearly is worth) and passed at least we had a look.
Hine left himself with no options. |
Can we have just a little less of your opinions being projected as globally accepted facts. You rate Stewart, I get that, but at this stage in his development to my eye he offers nothing more than Gault and certainly nothing yet to warrant the pick 27 GWS invested in him. In fact I'd have him behind Ramsay, Oxley, and Frost who we took after pick 27. Give the kid a couple of years and he may well progress, but way too early to be prescribing this as a monumental recruiting stuff up by Hine. |

If patton hadn't gone down with injury and boyd didn't head away for welfare payments i doubt we'd have been seeing much of stewart and if we did he be as a bit part. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

I rate Hine and his decisions far higher than any "net-expert"
He has made a huge difference to this Club, go back and have a look at our recruiting pre-Hine.
So far Stewart hasn't shown Hine was wrong. _________________ Pain heals, Chicks dig scars, Glory..... lasts forever! |

I am actually warming to Ramsay. Kind of in a similar way that it took time to warm to Toovey, who is 7.5yrs older, 6cm taller and 12kg heavier. Replacement? Or do we need someone with that extra height and bulk? _________________ ------------

I'm warming to him as well, he doesn't mind the tough stuff and he's a decent size, just needs to work on his foot skills.
I really hope he makes it as I don't think a modelling career awaits. _________________ Defender...........

That's a bit tough Defender; I think he's a pretty good sort, but he does wear a black and white jumper. _________________ After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!

Gee, the last recruiter before Hine who did it all by himself was Noel Judkins. This was the guy who recruited Malthouses 2002 and 2003 GF sides.
There was also 7 or 8 or 9 pre Hine players in the 2010 flag winning team. The numbers vary because there is not a a definitive answer as to when Hine took over.
You are obviously another Hine lover who can't stand any criticism of the man. His record isn't much if any better than Judkins. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

There were 7 players (8 if you count Leon Davis) who played in 2010, 2 of whom were father/sons which means they weren't necessarily great "finds" by old Noel.
Which gives us 14 by Hine (although Brown, Ball and Jolly were trades) in 5 drafts pre-2010 that formed the nucleus of our 2010-11 sides. That is outstanding going and only a completely blinkered person pushing a tired agenda wouldn't acknowledge that. |

So the 2002 and 2003 sides were rubbish.
And when did Hine take over? 2004 or 2005 according to you?
It is amazing how Judkins is vilified and Hine is cult material.
And talking of great finds - having only pick 2 and 5 in the 2006 draft must have been real hard on poor Hine. Getting Jolly and Ball was also soooooo difficult.
Stop bagging Judkins and stop making Hine out to be saint material. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

If Hine took over in 2004 then that means there were only 5 Judkins picks that made our 2010 premiership side. From 7 or 8 completed drafts with Judkins as head of recruiting that is poor going.
2002-3 were decent sides that performed well above their ability in September way back when Malthouse's game plan was still effective. We lacked the class to beat Brisbane though with our only genuine A grader being Buckley at that stage (though Clement, Didak and to a lesser extent Tarrant all become very good players) and Judkins didn't get him.
Judkins had some good selections (and some absolute duds as well) but we were never an elite side during his tenure and the absolute silk of the 2010-11 sides were recruited by Hine (excepting Swan) imo.
I don't know why you seem to want to build up the one (Judkins) and discredit the other (Hine) when his record has been excellent with us (you just watched a prime example this play his 200th on Saturday). Probably the true indication of Hine's worth will be seen over the next few years when this current crop develops and hopefully we see us contending again. |
