So, the AFL and AFLPA are going to stuff up 2021......for money.

We'll have 26 games and 18 minutes quarters as the players don't want to lose money and the AFL want a return on their investment.

Why 28? Might as well make it 34, every team play each other twice.

Should stick with 17 or make conferences. Unfortunately 34 games are too many.

34 games could work by:

Reducing on field players to 16
6 on the bench
Maintain current list sizes
No formal preseason matches
Reduce finals teams from 8 to 6

Doing the above would:

Make a fairer season ( home and away against all )
Make cash for the game as a whole
Maintain list sizes ie player opportunities maintained
Require greater use of fringe players through the season to ensure appropriate rest other players
As a nice by-product reduce congestion around the ball

oh its just the AFLPA

they just trying to make the players money back. FYI 2021 season wont be back to normal, let alone being able to play extra games lol

plus the Quality of the product will be reduced considering no pre-season comp and limited pre-season training.

any state government lock down could affect the season. The vaccine for Covid-19 is a LONG way off.

A conference system would give you 25 games. Play each team once and the 8 in your conference twice. 2 conference winners guaranteed double chance and the rest go into a normal ladder. Can alsp be engineered so all deeebees are played twice which reduces travel and costs. Would mean we could get the scum and bummers twice which is good for crowds. But expect a cockup by Dillon/
