Isn't the answer that Geelong should never have played Thursday? West Coast and Collingwood had the longest travel to their game and, inevitably for the winner, back. No team should get such a huge advantage in an important final because they lost. You expect this game, in most situations, to be 4th versus 5th. It looks to have been fixtured with a view to giving Port Adelaide a huge leg-up into a prelim if they lost. Instead, Geelong, by dint of finishing 4th, somehow reaps an advantage from being out-classed by the top team. Meanwhile, the winning team in the 6th v 7th shambles doesn't travel and only has one-day less preparation than its next opponent. The winner of 6 v 7 should not get a better run than the winner of 5 v 8.

The AFL scheduling through out the whole Covid period has been less than fair
They have bent over backwards to appease the WA & SA governments hoping for a financial benefit at seasons end and this dictated the scheduling
With Collingwood and WC having to travel the furtherest they should have played first match giving them the extra day maybe 2 to recover from the travel
That would have been the fairest way considering Collingwood had to self isolate for 7 days going to WA
We had the rough end of the pineapple right through this but maybe now we have built a resilience that’s going to be hard to crack
I bet the cats won’t be happy meeting us

Gotta be careful that we didnt play our GF last night.

We can beat Geelong. They're not in their best form. But they do owe us one.

Who'll need to have a big night:
Roughead: Hawkins. Had a shocker last week. Expect him to bounce back. Roughy will need to keep him quiet. He is their main avenue to goal.

Grundy: Stanley and Blicavs are both not NicNat. But Broadie will still have his work cut out with these two sharing ruck duties. Last time we played Geelong he was almost best on ground with over 40 hitouts.

Who to watch out for:
Dangefield and Duncan are their main ball carriers and will need to be slowed down. Control both of them and the game is won. Selwood (if he plays) and Ablett might also lift as it could be Gaz' last finals series. Guthrie is another player that has had a good season and needs to be accounted for.

The last time we played the Cats, Treloar and Grundy were best on ground with Jordy kicking 5 goals. If we can keep Hawkins and Dangerfield quiet and win the ruck/clearances, we'll take this game.

Whether it's injury, confidence or simply form, the fact is Grundy is having half the impact he normally has in games. Up against Biclavs and Stanley, we should back in the Grundy/Cameron combination to do the job for us. If we had a gun midfielder like Sidey waiting to return, then maybe we could consider leaving Cameron out of the side, but that ain't the case.

Unless there's been any injuries, I expect us to go in and beat the Cats with an unchanged line-up.

Hawkins could have kicked six goals the other night. That’s a concern we should be seriously looking at. Also, the pig needs to be unsociable when tagging Selwood Wink

Just rewatched the game from last night.
We need to do something about centre clearances.
The eagles scored 5 goals from this.
I would bring in Sier... he is a bull.
Who to drop?????
To me it would be Thomas or WHE.
Both played pretty well last night..so they would be stiff on that effort.
People say that Howe is available .
Again, who to drop?????
This is really hard as our backs were great again.
Maybe Magden... but boy he played really really well.
Other thoughts.
Checkers has to stop flying against Cox.
Making Stevo play high forwards have worked a treat.
Cameron was really good so he stays.
Noble needs a pat on the back. He is everywhere ...where the ball is!
He cannot be dropped.
The pig stops in.....hopefully does a job on one of their great midfielders.
I would have him tag Danger.
Win this and we are in the second big dance.
Go Pies.

I reckon if we kept Howe in the mix, he'd be almost right if we were to make the Prelim.

Irrespective of whether we need two rucks, I thought Cameron and Grundy were important last night. They always provided a target when we were kicking down the line, and both did their job and competed well. We seem to have turned the ball over often this year with long kick to the wing/HFF. That seemed to happen far less last night and I think going taller was a big factor.

I'd keep both.

If deemed fit, can’t they add him to the squad?

The Eagles scored 5 goals from the centre because they have nic nat

Bringing in an underdone Howe too risky IMO when our back 6 are going alright

Levi tagging someone should cut down on his high and long kicks out of the backline which resulted mostly in turnovers

Also want to say that while it was a well-deserved victory and we totally earned it, in the end we won because we kicked accurately and WCE missed some gettable chances. Kennedy was off the chain, Darling also had plenty of room. We were still dumbly at times and had a lot of turnovers. Need to tighten up next weekend

Bit early to consider this game, really, im still taking in that wonderful and gutsy win last night, the Mission Impossible. Im drained, really, watched it all again, truly remarkable win for the ages. I will think bout the Cats later next week, its at least 50-50 for us at worst i reckon.

As the commentators said, 'WC are the best centre clearance teams in the comp.' Kelly was important in that too. I think we have something to watch there.
Howe would be a big gamble - I can't see it happening too outside an injury.
I honestly cannot see any changes after last night. Maynard's finger might be something.

Sideass is silly, he shoulda isolated once his kid was born.

Would've been good to have him in the side moving forward.
