Here we are Magpie fans. Rounds 9-12 have been released

We play 4 games in 14 days. I like our opposition, not so much the Perth/Brisbane/Adelaide/Brisbane travel.

Interesting times!

Round 9 v Fremantle
Sunday 2 August 6.10pm AEST, Optus Stadium

Round 10 - Sydney
Thursday 6 August 5.40pm AEST, The Gabba

Round 11 v Adelaide
Tuesday 11 August 7.10PM AEST, Adelaide Oval

Round 12 v Melbourne
Saturday 15 August, 5.10PM AEST, The Gabba

Ridiculous. Why are we having to rush a season when the states these games are in have no community transmission?

I can only assume we will finish the year in Victoria as I can’t see the point of this all? Why the urgency.

Don't like the idea of the the short break turn around with the matches!

Because the olympics were cancelled so this is replacing them for two full weeks of sport for 7. It was pretty much announced months ago they’d try to do this during those two weeks.

Plus they have to rush through games in case some other premier ends up being as incompetent as Dan

It wouldn't be so bad if our opponents have the same short turnaround - but guess what? In 3 of the 4 matches, our opponents have extra days rest than us. The Melbourne game we have 4 days break, Melbourne has 6 - that is unfair and puts us at a huge disadvantage! The only exception is the Freo game where we have 7 days break, Freo 6 (which is the norm in normal fixturing)

If it weren’t for the fact that no one is allowed to travel overseas, you could be forgiven for thinking this scheduling was about getting the players’ frequent flyer points up for the end of season trip. Perth to Brisbane to Adelaide to Brisbane. Expect plenty of fatigue-related soft tissue injuries from that lot.

I have to take girlfriends father to a hospital on the Thai-Cambodia border and will be away for about 6 days . Will miss 2 games as Australia channel does not operate in the boonies. They also do not show games on mon-tues-wed unless it is ANZAC day. They really need to expand the bench to 8 or at least allow a few reserves to cover injuries.

Do other teams travel like we do in addition to the short turnarounds? You would think they would put the Adelaide game before the two at the Gabba.

SEN reported that it was four games in three states in thirteen days and I was Shocked But it's actually four games in three states in "fourteen" days. Piece of piss. Laughing

I'm expecting a few players to have a rest after the Sydney game at the Gabba. Those players to stay in QLD and miss the trip to Adelaide to play Crows.
I'd rest half the team, in particular Grundy, Pendles, Treloar, Moore and Elliott.
Bring in Cameron/Lynch, Sier, Tyler, Dunn, Appleby, JT, Keane.

It will be the team that plans the best that will do well out of this scenario. Depth is the key.

I guess the boys won't need to train. Just play, recover & play again.

A freakin’ JOKE. We play Melbourne off a 4-day break...and they get 6 days??? That’s 50% more recovery for them. My guess, we basically ‘throw’ the Crows game and see where the chips fall. If we win, bonus. If we lose, whatever, at least hopefully our squad won’t be decimated by injuries.
