Post subject: Favourite year apart from 1990 and 2010

Mines 2001.
Year of a dawn of a new era dynasty was what was touted.
Very exciting year.
Ed was new at the helm we also had a very good coach in malthouse too in his second year and a very youthfull and talented side too at the time.
2001 I felf that in the next 10 years 3-4 flags were possible and Collingwood were the next best thing and the start of a dynasty to last at least 10 years.
Was very exciting 2002 was great too but 2001 was our platform.
Whos everyone fav year apart from 1990 and 2010.
I hope 2020 is up there too time will tell.
Never was a fan of the wasted years 2013-2017 it was 5 years of unproductive footy and Collingwood as a stagnate swamp.
Other favourite year/s was in the lead up to 1990 hence 1988 and 1989. Its was similar to 2001 on the cusp of greatness feel about it.
2020-2022 our time to strike more so 2020. |

My favourite would be either 1215 or 1492, I can't really decide. |

Dust off da cobwebs folks old Baz plugs for 1953 ( my 1st time seeing a grannie win). Geelong had dominated us in finals then we “stuck it right up em”
But my jewel in the crown when after Redlegs had piled up a trifecta of flags
we again “stuck it right up em” thus preserving our 4 in-a-row
These were the days when a side could win the fight & the game _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Yep 2018 - we were up against it all year with injuries and drama and were never meant to be there. Played in a close one and sadly it didn't go our way.
We always seem to play in close ones - for once it'd be nice to belt a team on GF day a la 1990!! _________________ The new Magpie Dynasty is just a season away!! |

In my lifetime born in 1977 apart from 1990 2010 it was still 2001 we were destined for greatness but yeah 2018 was a great effort but was a teaser as the years 2013-2017 were ordinary we needed a spark 2018 was that. I envy the likes of hawthorn 2013-2015 Richmond 2017 and 2019.Some teams make it look easy not so pies.
1990 and 2010 were different times and were both great but special in their different ways should have won 2011 too would have meant an extra 3 years of Malthouse if we pulled it off 2011 |

In 2011 I loved going to the footy every week knowing we were going to win, or rightfully being supremely confident. We were that good. Team of great players and characters and clear comradery.
What a sting in the tail though.
The turning point, and it was RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, was Swanny being penalised for holding the ball before half time, when he actually marked it, and Bartell slotting a goal from the sideline from the awarded free. I knew we were farked from that point on. _________________ "The night is a very dark time for me" Chaz Michael Michaels |

2018 - most amazing season.
Unfortunately we started poorly and finished our last game poorly. What could have been!
2002 was very similar feeling.
I still loved both seasons. |

2002 - First time I ever saw us play finals.
2006 - After two years in the bottom 4, this was a really enjoyable season despite a disappointing elimination final loss to the Dogs.
2018 - One of my favourite seasons, despite the final result in the Grand Final. After years of stagnation, it was a pleasant surprise to see the team grow and build confidence with each passing week.
The common theme with all these seasons was rising up the ladder after being absent in the finals for several years. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

I loved the 2007 team. Beating Sydney, then the reigning premiers over in the West, and then getting within a kick off Geelong.
It was a mixture of the old and the new. Buckley, Clement, O'bree, Wakelin, Burns and then Shaw, Daisy, Pendles, Cloke, Swan, Marty Clarke and Sean Russling. |
