^ Thanks, K and P4S.

Fingers crossed it's nothing serious.

What I wonder will be the ruck setup as Cameron showed he is better than adequate
A strong one grab mark and a scoring option also

Grundy can drift forward (or back) as his ball skills make him another mid

I thought we showed a lot of strong options in our backline. Keane was good. Mayne was a natural and Noble and Murphy ( when he came on) read the game really well. Shaz, Quaynor Howe and Moore all didn’t play.

Don’t be surprised if we see Crisp move up the ground to pick up some of the slack that Beams has left behind. We need another plug and play midfield option. A Crisp / DeGoey stint through the midfield seems a solid option if one of the above defenders can hold down half back.

In the first major hit out of the year, it beggars belief that soft tissue prone players are playing the fourth quarter having got though the first three unscathed. You’d think all of Treloar, JDG, Adams, Elliott, would be rested come 3/4. But WTF would I know.

I can’t see Cameron playing in the same team as Grundy and Cox.

I really haven’t ever seen anything from Grundy to indicate that he can play as anything other than as a ruckman, so that leaves one spot available for Cox or Cameron. My guess is that Cameron doesn’t play unless one of the other two is injured.

Sad to see Ben Reid play one of his five games for the season, on the first day of March.

Mark Keane.....I like the boy. Darcy Cameron looked very good not only in the ruck (Christ we win some clearances from his taps) but going forward also, big Coxy better watch out. JDG hopefully he can build fitness to play more midfield minutes. He is by far our best centre clearance player.

Ultimately if we allow ourselves to downplay any loss due to it being only "a preseason game" then you'd hope we'd act accordingly with any win and not overplay it.

Still if we're being honest a victory is always preferable if only for the fact no small seeds of worry are allowed to enter our mind after a result we would have assured ourselves is meaningless if a defeat had of been suffered.

The psychology of your average football fan is strange beast.

Personally I didn't watch the game as I find it's better for ones sanity to not get emotionally attached to a performance until 4pts are on the line and without the emotional attachment watching a highlights package and reading reviews are enough to satisfy me.

All I was hoping for was our senior players finding some form and fitness, the kids showing some positive signs and no injuries.

Looks like I'll have to settle for two out of three.

Bugger!

Keane (Irish) #47 looks very promising indeed!

Thought Jay Rantall a good reader of the play and his decision making was good due to that fact. Small steps but promising

Can't help but agree with the 2 posts above - both looked like they belonged.

Like to remark on two players brought into the club in last two seasons to bolster our big man presence on the field, both with AFL game experience

Last year it was Jordan Roughead who has made a big impact in defence

This year Darcy Cameron who on yesterday’s effort could impact ruck / forward

And they both go about their work with minimal fuss

Nathan Murphy for mine. Only played the last qtr and was VERY impressive.
Tough as nails and a bit raw but he was a fine talent as a junior.
If he can get some continuity on the park, he will be playing seniors sooner than later.
Keane and Cameron also impressive.
It’s always hard to get a read on individual performances in scratch matches but a good individual performance is always a positive step.

For me our big man stocks now being added to with Keane , Murphy and Cameron
And together with Moore due back must be a plus
Needed of course consistent VFL from three mentioned we have ability to have back up players ready to step up

A decent run with less injury and IMO 2020 we can give it a real shake
