Federer still under an injury cloud before his SF.

"Tennis sources have told The Age he is in doubt for the match."

This is the problem when an injured player manages to win his match. For the tournament it can be better if the uninjured player wins, so at least there's a match. If one SF-ist gets a walkover, and the others slog through a five-setter in heat, it becomes unfair for the final.

More cricket celebrities appear at the tennis. Shane Warne thinks Novak will win, but wants Roger to. Jezza will be outraged! Wink

Well, as long as Thiem or Zverev can pull off an upset in the final...

Was hoping for a Barty vs Halep final. It would have been a great contest.

C'mon Nole! Twisted Evil

I think Thiem is quite likeable... bit Zverev has pledged the winner's cheque to bushfire charity if he wins the tournament.

Thiem's backhand was amazing the other night. He also got a lot of help from the net-cord.

They are saying Roger will at least make it out on to court... in what shape we'll have to see. At the ATP cup, Roger's first win against Novak in years, a quarter of all his serves were aces. Shocked His serve is key, they say.

I remember watching Thiem and Zverev live on the outside courts a few years back.

Their talent was evident then, but it's great to see them make serious strides in this tournament.

Well, I haven't really understood why Thiem hasn't done better outside clay before.

The drama with him here was the hiring and firing within weeks (and two matches in) of Muster. Then it turned out he was fined for "coaching". Unwanted coaching! It's reported he gave the "Shhh!" signal during that match.

Brad Gilbert: "Locker room says Roger is at 80%, tops. He will have to keep points short!"

Muster had a falling out with Thiem as I understand it.

He seems to be doing well under Nicolas Massu, a Gold medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

Serve-volley!!

(The lack of serve-volleying -- or any volleying -- at Wimbledon last year was distressing!)

Federer serves for the first set...

... and starts with a double fault.

And in a flash it's 0-40. Shocked

Djokovic breaks to love. Back on serve.

There have been many breaks of serve. This is good!

Into a tiebreak...

They talk about the Wimbledon final: Novak made no unforced errors in tiebreaks then.

------------------

Novak duly wins the tiebreak easily.

Nole wins in straight sets! Very Happy

The greatest to play at Melbourne Park.
