Labuschagne was a complete failure; he didn’t score a run.

Warner and Finch both scored centuries in the largest partnership against India in one-day cricket, for any wicket anywhere in the world.

The good news for Oz is that the next ODI WC is in India... but will Warner and Finch make it that far?

Both are 33 (with birthdays less than a month apart), which means 36 by the next ODI WC (in Feb-Mar, 2023).

The tabloid claimed last month "David Warner has revealed he could retire from either red or white-ball cricket in the next 18 months in a bid to prolong his career in the other..."

"Virat Kohli has said that he will rethink his batting at No.4 after another failure at that position...

Kohli's last few scores at the No. 4 position in ODIs read: 16, 7, 12, 11, 3*, 4 and 9, dating back to January 2015. The last time he scored big at that position was way back in November 2014, and Kohli admitted at the presentation that the team had not benefited much when he had batted at that position recently."

"Australia will consider rotating Josh Hazlewood in for the second ODI ... as they try to look after their workhorse pacemen.

Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc have played almost every international game this summer, sending down more than 2400 balls between them."

Finch open to leading Aussies to 2023 World Cup

"[Finch] has hit 1335 runs at 53.05 on the turning Asian wickets, which stands as his best record around the world and the third best of all Aussie openers.
...

"I haven't really thought about it too much. I would love to play in the 2023 World Cup but it's a long way away," he said.""

Deano:

"For one-day internationals, Glenn Maxwell has not been as consistent as he has hoped and the Australian selectors’ patience is wearing thin. Maxwell’s No.1 job when he has played for the Australian ODI team is to score runs. But he has only four 50s in his past 39 matches and has not adjusted to match situations. Add in the factor that bowlers around the world are bombing him with bouncers and he hasn’t found an answer to it.
...

Stoinis is very watchable in this vein of form, but I feel he has too long lived off that brilliant ODI 146 not out against New Zealand some three years ago. Sadly for Stoinis, he has only made one 50 in his past 20 ODIs. His role in the team has been questionable. Is he a banger who bowls some overs or is he a specialist bowler who just hits a few at the death?"

I suppose Jones' inability to work our whether Stoinis is a batting or bowling all-rounder says a little about the value of his commentary.

I take it MS's non-bowling in the BBL is because of some injury. Deano's issue is that he opens in BBL, but he's never going to do that in the Oz setup, so can he be a "banger"? I'm not convinced he can.

JL has been saying all the candidate all-rounders are primarily batsmen. (The lack of a fifth bowler was a huge problem in the ODI WC, but then again there were many problems with Oz's flawed campaign. e.g. Finch is ten times the ODI batsmen in Asia that he is in England.)

I think we can just ignore English conditions until the next World Cup there, when Finch and Warner will be about 50, I guess.

And India lost their review. Strange review - it was clearly out. Sharma seems to have thought he hit it - but there was nothing on Snicko, not a sausage.
