Well here we are again! Another year or new year to front up to the AGM that belongs to last year! Arrogance or something else confronts us towards the end of summer with a meeting that really should be held in November or December. Alas like so much else , we are powerless to bring about any desirable change. Democracy by name. Side by Side lol! So again we face the same unresolved issues: No real social club like the great days of Victoria Park, a failed 2019 season losing to the GWS joke, some questionable recruiting decisions , no term limits on Board appointments, a lack of member control over Club issues, food and beverage pricing and quality, membership packs, access to finals tickets and control over finals seat allocations, etc. But you bet the AGM will allow little time for true debate and member questions and more time for spin, music, etc. just like the game show tv audience warm up sessions. Well I guess afterall we are seen as dummies and allow ourselves to be treated accordingly. Can only hope for some excitement extinction rebellion protesters turn up and give us a taste of how resistance against the ruling elites is possible. We need a supporter version of them! What’s the Herald Sun going on about Eddie McQuire “gambling Collingwood money on the Stockmarket”?

It's called investing. The money from getting out of pokies was spread across stocks, bonds & property. So far the club is up $860,000 (about 20%) in less than a year as a result. You can read about it in the annual report.

We have Alex Waislitz, Christine Holgate and Mark Korda on the board, who all have a lot of experience in business and investing. Would you prefer the money in a mattress?

Glad to see investing of surplus money in a conservative well balanced portfolio. Just hate to see the club financial strength put at risk if the report of “gambling on stock market” was accurate.

Obviously there’s some risk involved but since they’re up $860k clearly the “gamble” - if you want to call it that - paid off

Nobody would read their stupid article if the headline was Collingwood reaps the benefits of prudent investments
