Pendles was pushing for it on social media so I would expect him to be one of the first to put up his hand.

I reckon Greenwood, Dunn, Beams and Rusling should get the nod for this one.

Grundy will definitely play, as well as Pendles.

The last one in 2008 effectively ended Josh Fraser's career iirc. Please don't let Brodie play.

As Cam astutely reflects, this hasn't gone well for us in the past...

At a minimum, any Club that loses a player to long-term injury should have the ability to replace them from outside their current list.

Should be better ways of fundraising then a state of origin game like what about various functions for the AFL to run in conjunction with the clubs also footy fun days are great too to raise funds. Merchandise and membership sales could be ways to raise funds too.Not liking the thought of a bad injury to pendles Grundy etc....

AFL should have a bushfire round early in the season gate receipts ticket sales and purchases at every match goes towards the bushfires makes sense then a knee jerk state of origin match.
Please pies only play a couple of your lower end players.

^Aim is to raise money. Won't do that if we, and others, offer up lower end players.

While none of us wish to see any injuries to any team's stars, there is a risk each time a player steps out, even during training. It is ridiculous to hold them back and wrap in cotton wool unless there is risk of aggravating pre-existing conditions. They can hurt themselves playing with their dog, skate boarding or basketball in any case.

I think many of the players will find it a unique way to pit their talents along side and against the elite of the competition (as opposed to a few stars in the opposition) and an honour to be selected. I'll make the effort to get there and see it. Looking forward to seeing which of our stars are represented.

I'd expect Grundy, Pendles, JDG and perhaps one of Steele or Treloar would be strongly in the mix.

If Howe is fit I think he would be a consideration to join in

This is so AFL. Anything they can do to grab more back page space during the off season.
Why couldn’t they just make a donation and move on. They are adding new costs to an exercise where those costs could have formed part of their overall donation.
The NRL got it right with their bushfire donation. All proceeds from round one are going to the bushfire appeal. It should be that simple.
