Archer has an elbow stress fracture, cricinfo reports:

"He missed the second and third Tests as a result and was then ruled out of the fourth on match-day morning when he suffered a recurrence of pain in the area while bowling during the warm-up.

He was withdrawn from the T20 squad due to play three fixtures in South Africa next week and returned to England for scans, which the ECB said on Thursday had "confirmed that Archer has suffered a low-grade stress fracture".

"As a result of the injury, he has been ruled out of England's Test tour of Sri Lanka and the Indian Premier League 2020 season," the ECB added in a statement."

A. Fernando, cricinfo:

"South Africa are not in a good way. They've recently lost Dale Steyn and Hashim Amla, two of their greatest players ever. They had such a poor World Cup campaign last year they didn't even get the chance to pull off a high-comedy choke. Their board was in turmoil as well. It was sad to see them struggle on so many fronts, many felt. The sport can't afford for South Africa to dip so drastically, the cricket world agreed. Then England showed up, and like bullies picking on the weakest kid in school, kicked South Africa in the groin in Cape Town, stole their lunch money in Port Elizabeth, and rubbed their faces in the dirt in Johannesburg. On top of which Jos Buttler called Vernon Philander a fatty in Philander's last series ever, and Ben Stokes called a South Africa supporter a "f**king four-eyed c**t"."

While lads go off the deep end.

The 2nd ODI was washed out, though not before Root took the wicket of QdK.

"Rassie van der Dussen was allowed to review an on-field lbw decision in Sunday's ODI between South Africa and England in Johannesburg despite Temba Bavuma previously using his side's only referral, because UltraEdge had been unavailable when Bavuma did so.

Bavuma was given out lbw when he failed to pick an Adil Rashid googly and was struck on the front pad, but decided to review umpire Shaun George's decision. Ball-tracking technology showed that the ball would have hit the top of middle-and-leg, but as Bavuma was about to leave the field, reserve umpire Allahudien Paleker told him to wait from the boundary edge.

Aleem Dar, the third umpire, wanted to check that Bavuma had not hit the ball, and despite replays seeming to show clear daylight between bat and ball, an error in the technology meant that UltraEdge was unavailable. That meant the umpire's on-field decision was upheld, but Bavuma was not adjudged to have used South Africa's review."
