I too would greatly appreciate a précis as in between banging supermodels and being on the board at the Gobs of Gold factory I have been busy climbing Mount Everest, and as one’s butler is on stress-induced leave and the sherpas don’t speak a Bloody word of English between them perhaps one of you unemployed types with lots of time on your hands would save me the trouble of reading boring old threads to find out the status quo. Let 2020 roll on and a drop in injury plus increase in young men stepping up
Gee another first season effort like Stevo in 2018 by one of the new young men
Would that be good _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Well, that doesn't exactly fill me with excitement for next season. The net result of the above ins and outs is surely negative i.e. we will go into 2020 with a (slightly) weaker list.
Hopefully, there will be some excitement with the emergence next year of young players already on our list. Players like Tyler Brown, Nathan Murphy and Tom Wilson. _________________ Side by side. |

Yep, with any luck one of the newbies will pull off that elusive Same Game Multi. |

On paper maybe but considering Goldsack, Wells, Murray, Dunn & Crocker played just 4 senior games between them...
Hopefully the absence of Aish (14 games in 2019) and the injury to Greenwood (17) will create opportunities for some of the kids _________________ https://forever.collingwoodfc.com.au/sav-sinks-the-dockers/ |

It should actually not show six out and four in because as far as I can tell Max Lynch has been elevated from the rookie to the main list while Lynden Dunn has been dropped from the main list and will be added to the rookie list later in the pre-season _________________ Born and raised in Black and White |

We haven't really lost or gained all that much – as noted, Aish is really the only player in the outs to have had any impact this year, and he was on the edge of the 22 for much of the season. Hopefully Cameron will make the trade a good one. So it was a pretty ho-hum trade/draft period, really, and you could make the case that we broke even.
What worries me more is that we haven't managed to inject much in the way of mid-career talent into the list. We have a few good new players coming through, hopefully (Quaynor will be great, along with some of the others we haven't seen yet perhaps), but otherwise it's just going to be another year of decline for Varcoe, Reid, Beams, Greenwood, etc. (if any of the above even get on the field). Even Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Howe and Cox may no longer be at their best this year. So while this is basically the equation for every club every season – players retiring, stars getting older, untried players coming through – I can't help but feel that the decline in the list is outweighing the upside right now. Hope I'm wrong! _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |
