I thought that we were going to rookie Dunn after he was delisted. It would appear that we have not done so. I guess that he may still stay around the club in some sort of coaching position, he worked with the AFLW team, but I would have liked to have kept him on the rookie list. Last year when Moore missed matches through hamstrings or when Roughy was moved forward to replace the injured Cox it became clear that we are still short on tall defenders. Keeping Dunn for one more year on the rookie list might have given us a backup for emergencies.

Dunn stated on sen a few weeks ago that we were going to leave a spot open for him and assess his knee in the new year. With the new listing rules it makes sense to leave that decision as late as possible.

"Dunn, who is nearing the end of his recovery from a knee reconstruction, will continue to train with the AFL squad over the pre-season in the hope of winning a return as a rookie.
The veteran defender was delisted on the understanding that he will nominate for the national and pre-season drafts and be considered for a position as a Collingwood rookie if he is overlooked in both."

Pre-season supplemental or mid-season draft I'd say.

Greenwood LTI should enable us to have a selection.

Collingwood have also retained experience on their list and are expected to keep a spot free for Lynden Dunn as he recovers from a knee reconstruction.

The 32-year-old is expected to train with the Magpies over summer with the prospect of being added via the pre-season supplemental list.

Dunn will be on the list in 2020.

Thanks for the reassurance P35. If he has recovered, we certainly need him as a backup.

Great news, thanks P35. Hard to keep track of all of the ways players can be picked up now; I was under the impression it was rookie list or nothing for him.

Dunn, Bennell, Brown ... Who else will get a SSP lifeline? - http://m.afl.com.au/news/2019-11-29/dunn-bennell-brown-who-else-will-get-a-ssp-lifeline

With Dunn I suspect he is intelligent enough to take into account all areas of his situation and a friend who coached him in junior ranks tells me that he is
one hell of a nice bloke

He and the club I would say have a plan to work towards—quality people are valuable at a club

He can now been signed from now until March 15. The Dees have become the first to sign a player in the SSP period which started on Dec 1. (Mitch Brown).

So we'll be in no rush to sign him, but I'll expect it to happen sometime after the new year.

I guess one question is, do we have another player in mind if Dunn cant get back on the park?

I'd be pretty certain we have an alternative lined up, just in case.
