It seems like he was promised an upgrade onto the Senior list after exhausting the 3 year rookie time frame. Interestingly we swapped pick 62 & 70 for an earlier pick and as such didn't upgrade Lynch. Anyone have any visibility on the machinations here? _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

Rookie upgrades haven’t been announced during the draft for a few years. Upgrades are now simply done via list lodgings. |

A promotion nearly as mystifying as that of Captain Wil Parmenter. |

I was surprised at Lynch's promotion. If the club preferred Reid and Wills as relief ruckmen after Cox was injured it doesn't show much confidence in Lynch. And now that the club has traded for Cameron I would assume that he would become the first choice replacement for Grundy and Cox. Still, I assume there are people at the club who believe that Lynch will improve with age and they know much more about Lynch's development than I do. _________________ Born and raised in Black and White |

Most clubs want 3-4 actual ruckmen on their list with one developing option.
Cameron is now our first ruck relief, letting Lynch go would be dumb, better to keep developing him unless we think there's nothing to develop.

If you’re 200+cm and get picked up in the AFL draft tonight you’re laughing! You’ve got 5-7 years guaranteed in the system because everyone thinks you’re ‘developing’ but you really just might be sh*t and they’ll label you a failed pick. But worry about that later on |

That is one of the best social media quotes I have read from an AFL footballer in the last few years ( albeit starting off a very low base ) |
