As I'm sure everyone's aware, Sunday 7th October marks the 10 year anniversary of Darren's passing.

I find it hard to believe it's been 10 years - oh, what might have been...

Anyway, I'll be having a drink (or several!) for Darren on Sunday, to pay my respects to a champion footballer and a great guy.

It really is hard to believe it's been 10 years. I'll never forget 1990 & 1991 for two very different reasons.

Born on the same day as myself and tragically taken on the day of my fathers birth...Darren Millane was everything to a club that meant everything to him.

Averaging 22 possesions a game, watching his bustling but graceful movement and his silky delivery of the football trancended the actual game that is football and took you to an absolute frenzy of emotion and excitement that only he himself could generate. It isn't the numbers we will remember him by, but it is by the way he played the game..sheer courage and ALL CLASS!!!!

If we could go back in time and change those fateful circumstances that brought about the cutting short of a long and fantastic career, a Captains role of our great club, an absolute AFL legend and for sure a few cups that he could have held high come that one day in september...I am sure we would, but we can't .

So on this day...the day your life was taken. Our hearts go out to all those most affected by your loss...Your family, our hearts are with you, to your close friends, we cry with you. To all, who,like me idolised him as one of our greatest Ever players, I mourn with you. May we never forget him, may we always remeber him for all the great achievements rather than his faults and Darren....May your Heaven be forever a Black and White One Mate!!

I tell u i know what I was doing when I heard about the WTC. I know where I was when I heard about my Grandmother dying. Both occasions made me weep.

I do remember where I was when i heard about Millane. How could anyone profess to be a B&W fan if they cannot remember where they were or what they were doing when they heard the news.

I tell ya i cried, I wept for him to see a career of greatness go. A man who bled B&W, courage, guts, determination, these words do not do the man justice. He was a hero. Like other greats his name is hallowed and I will always remember him throwing the ball up in exultation at the end of the 1990 grand final. A memory that will stick with me until I die.

I know u are watching Darren and we say WE LUV YA, AND MATE IT IS MY SHOUT!!!!

I also mourn Darren's death. But I couldn't believe my eyes last week when I walked past a sports memorabilia shop in Swan St Richmond, and right in front of me was one of his guernseys, stained, number torn, autographed and everything. I can't believe anyone would ever part with one of these, they are so rare and precious! I nearly cried because I can't afford to buy it - so Eddie, go buy it now!

PieGirl, I pass that shop every day on the tram, and that guernsey jumps straight out at me, it has such impact - and not a day goes past when I think, "Oh, what might have been if Pants was still alive..." Out of interest - how much is the jumper selling for? (I'm actually surprised it has been there for so long - I though it'd be snapped up straight away!)

sorry i've been away for a while.

i haven't seen the price, it's well hidden (probably for good reason) but whatever it is, i reckon it's worth it.

it looks like the genuine article... of course, you'd want to get the documentation. but you get this weird feeling when you look at it, like you have stumbled across a gold nugget or something. for someone like me, who was too young to enjoy millane's actions in life, just seeing it is like something you have waited your whole life to do. i feel really priviliged to be able to get within a metre of it!
