"Leach by no means had a shocker. But while his final figures were just a little expensive - he conceded 3.25 an over - it was more the comparison with Santner which was most unflattering. Santner, who came into this game with a Test bowling average of 39.08, gained turn and bounce from the surface that was absent for Leach."

Boult is injured. Was it the dead pitch?
If they play it out (which they probably won't unless wickets tumble), the projection is for 1180 runs in the match. It's ridiculous. |

Oh... England are losing the plot now, throwing their wickets away. |

Suddenly it's 7/133, with the new ball due soon (but no Boult).
As I said in the other thread, if it's a win they'll excuse the pitch, but they shouldn't.
Last three wickets: played on, hang-the-bat-out leave, full toss...
And people wonder why I lament the death of Test-match batting. |

"Besides, let’s face it, as much as we will revel in England’s humiliation in New Zealand, it takes a bit of the gloss off the Ashes."
Well, just a reality check, but no one should need it. e.g. look at The Economist's pre-Ashes article ("Not up to the Test: The Ashes will feature the weakest pair of cricket teams in decades"): http://magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.php?p=1943590#1943590 |
