I’ve had this discussion before. I spoke to Eddie about our lame-arse apparel at least 4-5 years ago at a post season members’ forum, a quick one on one. Bemoaned the fact that compared to US and EU sports apparel, ours sucks ass and is hardly what an adult would want to wear. He agreed, but also poo-pooed the big sports brands, saying they’re unreliable, charge a fortune, yada yada yada...before we were fed the Star Athletic propaganda, before they folded and we welcomed the amateurish-looking ISC brand on board.
Fingers crossed the ‘biggest sporting club’ in Australia actually wears a big sports brand. Still love my Adidas-branded gear from a few years ago.

Yep. Can’t believe we haven’t marketed this more overtly. Our guernsey literally has three stripes on the front and there on the back.
Also, an all black sleeve with three white adidas stripes (or all
White with three black stripes) like a soccer shirt, marketer’s dream. I mean, we shouldn’t even have hoops on our sleeves...we wear VERTICAL stripes. Geelong is the only sleeve that warrants hips down the long sleeve. Heck, even Adelaide opts for an all blue sleeve, and they wear horizontal stripes.

It's not shoe deal, the players get their own deals, it's the jumper and the merch. Adidas have the best merch, followed by Puma and Nike. |
