Nostalgia OK, personally I would have preferred Sam Murray but welcome Lynden Dunn back to the fold. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman

Very glad to hear. Dunn is an unfashionable favorite of mine!
Has a rookie ever won the Brownlow? We will find out. |

One year, the wooden spooners won the premiership, so I guess anything's possible. |

Club culture, Dunn's a champ in that department. It's invaluable. Look how Maxy has spruced the place up with better energy.
Sam Murray can pee off, he finds it "interesting" how he tested positive for cocaine, showed bugger all remorse. Bye bye. |

Keeping Dunne on the senior list will be hailed as a great move by Collingwood as the season wears on. Not only his experience and talent will help but his toughness and leadership. I felt that we were at times pushed around last season and lacked toughness. Years ago when we had Ronnie Andrews, Worthington, Magro, Monkey, Millane etc, we were feared by some of the opposition. We need to do this again. Before I get flamed, I'm not advocating thuggary but pure toughness in not getting pushed around or bullied by brainless opposition players who do this because they lack the basic skills to play consistently at AFL level. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Dunn is the last player added to our list.
League wide how many players from the 17 other clubs in the same situation will make an appearance let alone be a staple within their sides 22 this season?
Outside of Ben Sokol who seemed like a type worthy of taking a chance on (especially if we wish to increase the midfield minutes of de Goey/Elliott) no other player readily comes to mind who I wouldn't have minded in place of Dunn.
Kind of feel there is a lot of angst over nothing.
Personally I think people who are critics of his listing have underestimated three things.
1. He's very well liked and respected by the playing group and coaches.
2. By standing by him through a second knee reconstruction the club is sending a positive message to the likes of de Goey and Moore as they enter contract negotiations. The club has displayed loyalty to a player in the twilight of their career and shown if you're a good citizen and committed servant of the club you can be rewarded beyond your peak period as a player.
3. While there is obviously still big questions marks around his ability to return to the playing field and have an impact at VFL level this season prior to his knee injury it wasn't like he was on the fringe of our 22 and not getting a regular game. I'm prepared to keep an open mind about what he potentially could offer to the side if he remains healthy and finds form. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |
