Post subject: What's Josh Daicos' Goal For 2019 | |
|
I dont think we need to be overly worried about him. He has shown glimpses in his short AFL career.
I'm just asking what a pass mark for him in 2019 would be?
In his first season, he got called up for 2 senior games. The last two games of the year. Our season was over, but he got to enjoy that fabulous win over the Dees, which cost them a finals birth and I believe a turning point for our club.
In his second year, he managed to play 10 games, from round 10 to 20. This was in a year where, yes we did have a few injury concerns, but it was a Grand Final year none the less.
Now in his third year, it's hard to see him get a call up due to the strength of the team thats been playing. I do think he's shown a lot more than other father-son recruits from other clubs, but will he be able to break into the team in 2019? Or is he still developing?

Josh ain’t an orphan there —-there are going to be several players who are experienced and yet be experienced who won’t break in
This current side that beat Port ain’t perfect but it’s a lot better than the side that made last yr GF _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

I think he's going to be an absolute rippa!
Turns 21 when the season ends, and as you say, hard to break into this side this year.
His old man kicked over 400 goals after his 21st.
Going to be a Magpie star. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

Agree Josh will be a very good player and like all of us get a kick from dads boy followings suite—-We see it with Cal and Darc
The thing about increased high performance of a side has shortfalls in young making a break in
This for mine is his year to make a statement—he has talent _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

With Varcoe being our only midfield type probably about to retire, I can't see Daicos breaking into this side any time soon. Unfortunately, while he has some good skills, he is a tad slow and is a dwarf. He may seek opportunities at another club if he can't break into our side this year. |

Looking at Josh and Callum both 178cm and 73kg but so different styles
Whilst both very clean with ball one wins his own ball more often than not
And that’s Callum _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

If it wasn't for his surname, would we really be talking about him as anything other than being on thin ice? Surely this is a make-or-break year for him, and the fact he can't get a game is a concern – not many players get more than three years on an AFL list to establish themselves. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

With Wells, Goldsack, Varcoe, Dunn, Mayne, Reid and Greenwood at or near the end, there will be plenty of space for him to get another year. He's only 20 and he does have superior skills. You'd also think that Wills and Crocker would be shown the door ahead of him. |

Josh has good skills, awareness and makes good decisions, however it's all about his physical and athletic development. At just 20yo, we'd be crazy to delist him at the end of this year.
I'm a fan of rotating an extended squad over the course of the year. I'd be giving Josh a few games this year at least. He just has to show a bit of form in the 2nds. |

Haven't you heard? Wills is poised to be called up to replace Adams/Thomas/De Goey/Varcoe/Mayne/Greenwood and will be the next Pendlebury/Treloar/Beams/Swan _________________ https://forever.collingwoodfc.com.au/sav-sinks-the-dockers/ |

To be frank, Collingwood is not the place to be if you are a fringe forward, especially a small forward.
Daicos might just be at the right club at the wrong time. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

Had a ripping preseason apparently so he should count himself unlucky that he missed round 1. If he’d got a game he might still be there. His depth might be handy if injuries hit but hopefully that won’t be an issue. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'
