Shame i like Aish, and in a perfect world he is a keeper and probably in our starting 22 when fit. Shame to see him go and i wish him nothing but the best. |
Ditto, on all counts. |
it's a bit disappointing when teams such as Geelong had players voluntarily take pay cuts to stick together back when they had their premiership window open. Aish really hasn't been an automatic selection though, so he probably feels a bit on the outer. Do Millennials rate themselves a bit higher than they're worth? I've noticed it a lot with this generation of footy players, some price themselves more than they're really worth. |

I like Aish but the fact is you can't name a single position for us where he's first choice. He can play multiple roles but in each one he's 2nd or 3rd choice behind others, so he's depth.
We suggested he look around, he's thought about that and now has a 3 year offer on the table, likely more than we were going to offer in 12 months so why wouldn't he take not just the money but the security?
I wish him well _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I checked...
Noble: vs. Geebung 7 clangers (from 19 disposals), vs. GWS 6 clangers (16 disposals).
Grundy: 4 (from 21 disposals), 6 (25 disposals).

I like Aish, but he's a bit of a Wellingham -- plays for the lifestyle and does enough to get a spot, but despite his obvious talent and ability, gets comfy and doesn't take that extra step. |
Wellingham is a fleet manager for Audi car dealership in Perth now.

I don't mind trading Aish,he isn't in our best 22, but he is still a good player and I want to know what we get for him. There is no point in trading him for a player of similar ability and experience because it won't help with next years salary cap. What we need is a draft pick for a player whose salary will be reasonably low for the first two years and will only go up after that (by which time some of our older players will have retired).
The problem is that Freo's second pick is 22, which is probably more than Aish is worth, and their third pick is 79 which is a lot less than Aish is worth. Couldn't we trade him back to Adelaide in his home town for their pick 28? _________________ Born and raised in Black and White |

He partied hard and skated downhill, and that's what happens. I don't like to gloat about post-footy careers though, I actually feel pretty awful for a lot of players. They're used by the clubs and AFL and then WHAM! it's over and they have nothing. I was watching Insight last week and John Barnes has nothing, he was a garbo during and after footy, and now with Acquired Brain Injuries he can't even be a garbo. But other players who party it up and don't give a shit about doing the hard yards for the club or their future -- yeah, Wellingham says hello. Remember that blinder of a game he played when Swan (or was it Pendles?) was out injured and Wellingham was the man? His gf at the time told him "this is your chance, step up sweetheart and fulfil your potential!" And he did, for one game... and then went back to partying it up with Buddy and not giving a shit.

Aish has had a solid season and in the final against GWS I was impressed that he was one of just a handful willing to put their body on the line and take the body hit when it was wet.
Still outside his marking which has always been surprisingly excellent for a player of his build I don't see any other elite traits in his game.
He's a neat player but he's never going to be a play maker off half back like a Saad or Houli as he doesn't have the pace or laser like kicking ability that produces quick transition.
I see him as expendable for those players who aren't like Grundy, de Goey and Moore.
If we get a pick below 40 for him then I'd consider it a win as our bargaining position isn't strong given Fremantle know our primary motivation is to dump salary. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |
