Again. If the selectors are still interested in Stoinis, he was best afield in WA's One-day win against Victoria.
Run-a-ball 45 & 3/20.

Cricket Australia chase in-demand McDonald for coaching role
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/cricket/mcdonald-set-to-join-cricket-australia-coaching-staff-20191030-p535td.html
"Assistant coaches have in the past not been able to hold other jobs, which has proven a stumbling block in CA attracting experienced personnel to their coaching staff.
Langer told the Cricinfo website last week that CA needed to be "creative and agile" in order to find the right candidate.
Industry figures have indicated the average wage for a head coach in the eight-week long IPL is more than that for the year-long assistant's role. Being on the road for some 300 days a year has been seen as a deterrent for prospective coaches." |

K, I don't get it.
As I mentioned, once before: With quicks bowling, there are up to 7 of the 10 available fieldsmen from keeper to point - 8, if you have a leg slip/gully. It's neither a sin, bad technique or unusual that batsmen get out, edging to them. _________________ Donny.

I'm not the one who created the video, of course... but I can totally understand whoever did finding it video-worthy. I assume these were three consecutive dismissals, or at least two consecutive and the third very close in time. It's highly unusual to be caught at leg slip/gully more than once (or even once), unlike the orthodox off-side positions. That's why the leg-side fielding positions are rarer. They must have felt they could get him out there even to put the fielders there.
Nicking to orthodox slips is a separate question. Of course, as a bowler you expect nicks there, but if the same batsman keeps nicking off cheaply ala Khawaja he clearly still has a problem. I'm sure if you look at batsmen going okay, not only do they score a few before getting out but their modes of dismissal are probably more random-looking.
This may not be easy to investigate. If it's just caught, will cricinfo's database show where the catcher was or just who?
But, back on this specific batsman, we hardly need Bancroft to get dismissed in the same place multiple times to know that he has problems with his technique. |
