The Club's FB account wrote:

Collingwood has locked in its 2020 coaching panel with Matthew Boyd and Garry Hocking accepting new roles and former Cat Scott Selwood joining the panel.

⚫️Boyd: Backline and team defence coach
⚪️Hocking: VFL senior coach
⚫️Selwood: Development coach

We have a ducking coach now? (Yes - I said "ducking".)

Just to clarify, these are the new appointments only.

Would that still leave Harvey still in charge of midfield and Sanderson in charge of “ ball movement “ and “ transition “.
That’s only from memory, happy to be corrected if I’m wrong.

Reckon we could do with a new ruck coach too.

Doesn't this leave us one short from the senior coaching panel that we maintained this season?

Hocking becomes VFL coach and replaces Rivers.

Boyd moves from development to replace Longmuir as defensive coach.

Selwood replaces Boyd in development.

Who has replaced Hocking?

Boyd was a fine player and I'm sure a quality bloke but doesn't come with the same coaching experience that we flourished with under Longmuir.

If we haven't bothered replacing Hocking in the senior coaching panel are we taking some short cuts and falling back into bad habits that could sometimes present in the past with coaching appointments?

A good enough kind of mindset isn't what we should strive for.

Surely midfield there is a change. I can't understand why we got beat so easily around the ball at time last year. Now that Elliot stays De Goey and the Unicorn to play 70% mid time perhaps.

I think more changes to come? Seems we have a spot open. Caracella would have been nice, but Essendon got him.

Anyway I'm happy with Hocking taking over the VFL and Selwood coming in too.

If we're going in with one less coach then I hope we redirect that money into our sports science / medical department.

I'd be quite happy if Buckley took direct responsibility for the midfield. I don't really understand why he'd have second rate spuds from other clubs that couldn't get it done on Grand Final day "helping" him with how to get a useful clearance from the centre.

Go here to see some more info on Hocking:

He's coached in many leagues.

Hocking demoted to VFL.
Very interesting and no replacement for stoppage coach. We got smashed in a couple of finals and during the year stoppages was one of our main scoring avenues.....

Funny one to read...

^ Interesting. What odds has he been given? Still bet on Burns, I reckon.
