Interestingly, all 6 of Kohli's scores over 200 have come in India.

He's good at making hay while the sun shines against the rubbish on easy wickets (South Africa in Pune, Sri Lanka in Delhi, England in Mumbai, Sri Lanka in Nagpur, New Zealand in Indore and Bangladesh in Hyderabad). His 200 even was against the hapless 2016 West Indies team, away.

His highest score against Australia is 169. That was in a draw and wasn't even the highest score in the game (no surprise that it was Steve Bradsmith with 192 who took those chocolates). His next best against Australia was 147, in a draw at the SCG in a match where India batted second (and after Australia made 7d/572 and all of Australia's top 6 made 50s - Warner and Smith made 100s and Rogers 95). His third best was 141 on another road at the Adelaide Oval - again, India batted second after Australia made 7d/517 (Warner 145, Clarke 128 and Smith 162 not out), Kohli made a century in each innings, 115 and 141 (Bradsmith didn't - he did, however, make 214 without being dismissed). His fourth best was 123 at Perth last December - again, India batted second, Kohli made most of his team's score (and this time massively outscored Smith, of course, the ICC having by then identified the only way to stop Smith scoring heavily). His fifth best was 116 on another Adelaide road (Ponting made 221, Clarke 210, that pair put on 386 for the 4th wicket and Australia declared at 7/604). His 6th best was his 115 at Adelaide - see above. His only other century against Australia was 107 on the runway at Chennai - his was the third best score in that game, behind Dhoni's 224 and Clarke's 130.

...

Honestly, that reminds me of Smith (who with Kohli is the equal second-best batsman in the world).

Ouch.

SA is a sad sight. I suppose taking Kallis, Amla, Steyn and de Villiers out of any team will do that.

Reminds me of the once mighty Windies, losing so many stars in a short period.

The present two have put on a 50 stand, though. 5/105, now.

6/128. De Kock gallantly stood his ground after being bowled.

Also Sri Lanka.

They lost Murali, Atapattu, Vaas, Mahela and Sanga over a fairly short time.

Still trying to regroup.

8/251.

Maharaj 56*, Philander 38*. Excellent stand from these 2 bowlers.

However, how bloody tedious when, with every ball by the spinners, 3 or 4 close in fielders yell out, "OI" !! or similar. Sad

In my 60 odd years of following Test cricket (any cricket, actually) I've never seen this fielding position. And by position, I mean on his knees.

A very short second slip is kneeling, almost on all fours. I'll try to find a pic.

Weird.
