I'm only joking of course, but in all seriousness we need to find some real mongrel, quick smart if we are not to begin to slip down the ladder again towards mediocrity.

I'm sick of having a team full of nice blokes. I want some genuine hard arses and a take no prisoners approach to playing the game. FFS, the very mention of the name Collingwood used to put fear into the hearts of our opponents, but alas no more. I'm not talking about necessarily dirty players, but rather, players who play the game with absolute no fear. Players like Tuddy, Magro, Kelly and Millane.

I realise it's the players who largely choose the captain, but I reckon it's time for Pendles to step down, in order to signify a cultural change. It ain't gonna happen, but I'd have Adams, Maynard and De Goey as our leaders.

He's a free agent, he goes where he wants no trade required

But to Rudeboy's point, if unsociable football works, then lets do it.

We don't want a team of choir boys, choir boys are prey we want predators

Isn't he a free agent which means he can't be traded?

I would love to have Monkey and Worthington to still be playing!

How about we just worry about getting good footballers that play well in the important games.

A KPF and a second ruck are more important than a eye gouger

True but one with a bit of mongrel would be good!

Before we slip into mediocrity? I wasn’t aware we had left it.

Lol. When I saw the title of this thread, I laughed. And right now, I need to laugh.

Neither Tudddenham nor Magro did any better in a Grand Final than the present team. Pendelbury won a Norm Smith Medal and managed not to concuss Travis Cloke in a Grand Final.

The absolute epitome of what Rudeboy says was the 1990 side. Well short of the best side ever, against the odds they shit it in.
Coached and developed by the toughest mongrel who ever played, it's difficult to categorise any member of that team who didn't meet the criteria.
Who didn't meet the criteria? In their own individual way?
If not, the coach wouldn't have played them.
