Where will our improvement come from? Maybe we could develop a tagger.

Don't get me wrong, I hate taggers, but when you see c-graders like De Boer and Hutchings negate quality a-graders like Pendles and Sidebottom you realise they have real value.

I know that we have used Greenwood on occasion, but I'm suggesting a deliberate program to develop a couple of our younger fringe players into specialist taggers. Maybe Broomhead or Daicos.

I'm not sure what the qualifications for a tagger are. A big tank, a bit of mongrel and a preparedness to do whatever it takes to have an AFL career.

It's clear that we urgently need improvement in 2 areas - our midfield and up forward.

Midfield

De Goey and (hopefully) Beams could have a huge impact in the midfield, allowing us to use Pendles on the half back or half forward line. And who knows, maybe even Sier will get his shit together? While I have no faith in Josh Daicos or Callum Brown, I think Tyler Brown could well step up and have an impact as well. We may also see Crisp play more time there as well.

Forward

Ideally we would look to draft/trade in a young key forward, but that seems an unlikely outcome, given our poor draft picks and tight salary cap. However, we should nevertheless expect a better forward performance as Stephenson has all the attributes to become a star forward, complemented by (hopefully) a fitter and improved WHE, Elliott (assuming he stays) and a hungry and (with better vision) better Cox.
