On their next drive, the Bills were forced to punt by JJ Watt disrupting the third-down pass attempt and on the Texans’ next drive, Carlos Hyde made the TD and Hopkins caught the pass for two-point conversion.
Suddenly, the Texans lead 19-16 with just over 4 and a half minutes left in the game. |

And now the Bills’ young star running back, Singletary, has them down to the Texans’ 25-yard line. 2nd and 10, there, as pressure forces Allen to throw it away.
And now the great Frank Gore is tackled first a loss at the 30 or 31 yard line. There’s the two minute warning and the Bills look like they might have to settle for the tying field-goal attempt. JJ Watt is just creating enough havoc that Allen has lost the time he had earlier in the game.
This is exciting stuff - but it’s hard to see how either team could beat the Ravens or Chiefs next week. |

And now the defence takes the Bills all the way back to the 38 on 4th and 27.
Allen stays on the field because the kicker can’t do the distance. |

And Allen is sacked all the way back at his own 30. The Bills look to have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. |

And now the Bills get a turnover on downs. They’ve used all their timeouts and have only 1:16 left, though.
It’s up to JJ to do his thing again and hold the victory for the Texans. |

1st and 10 at the Texans’ 39 yard line. 44 seconds to go. Hauschka is 23 of 24 field goals in the postseason over his career. They just have to get him in range. |

Almost an Int on 2nd and 10 but the defender drops it. 3rd and 10 with 34 seconds left. |

Beasley takes the catch near the first down line. They’re reviewing where he was down. |

And it’s 4th down, rather than 1st down, so on comes the field goal unit.
No, it’s called a first down. And they have the field goal unit on, so the punter (who acts as QB) spikes it. 2nd and 10. Allen comes back on. 20 seconds to go. And the Texans take a time out. Will the pressure get to Allen again? |

Incomplete pass attempt. 3rd and 10 with 15 seconds to go. Allen throws it incomplete again. So, it’s down to the field goal unit to try to force it into extra time.
Hauschka’s kick has to go 47 yards. And he nails it! |

Watson gets it at his own 30 with 4 seconds to go.
But he doesn’t try anything. Just takes a knee, so we’ll have overtime in a Wild Card game for the first time since 2011 (remember Tim Tebow?)
Because it’s a playoff game, they start again as if it’s an entirely new game. 3 timeouts apiece and a 15-minute first quarter. Of course, they only play until someone scores (save that on the first play, if only a field goal is scored, the other team gets a chance to equal or win with its first possession). |

Fells drops a pass he should have caught on 3rd and 3 and the Texans will have to punt. Next score wins. |

And Watson miraculously turns a near-sack into a 30-yard gain and a first and goal at the 10 yard line. You’d think that the kicker will now make the 28-yard attempt and end the game.
Yes, here comes Fairbairn.
And he makes it! The Texans are through by the skin of their teeth and the Bills’ playoff victory drought now extends to at least 25 years. |

Next up, we have the Pats at home against the Titans. This may be (win or lose) Big Tom’s last start at Foxborough. |

There’s tempting fate - deferring and letting Brady have first use of the ball. |
