After his first few games, it was looking like we'd made a good deal.

Then he has a sniff and then a year and a half pass and then he is cleared to play round one and then he is delisted.

I guess you cant win every trade you make. It was a low risk at the time, but it's still disappointing we seemed to have wasted that pick.

Again hindsight/foresight is a great thing but by definition no one has this trait at the time of making a decision/choice. If you believe, only your God knows Rolling Eyes If you don't, it is just plain good/bad old luck Cool

^ If everyone is questioning the decision at the time (which they were), you can't say they are criticising with the benefit of hindsight.

You'd think when Muzz was drafted in October 2017, he would have met JT over the summer of 2017/18, who had been struggling to get his spot back in 2017 after two years off for an ASADA holiday. And you'd think he would have had a lightbulb moment not to continue his Sydney lifestyle or he'd end up with a two year holiday like JT was fighting to get back from. But nope.

I have zero sympathy for the clown and praise the club for taking a stand by delisting him. We've been through this crap before. Surely he would've realised the consequences of powdering his nose on/before game day.... clearly not. Yet another example of a player with an over inflated ego throwing it all away on stupid decisions. Piss taker. Time waster. Thank u, next.

The strengths and requirements of a half back flanker have changed so much in the last two years, that I think that changing role has had a bit to do with his demise also.
Three or four years ago, everyone wanted speed off the half back. Win the ball and bomb it back into your own forward line as quick as possible. Run and carry was as important as ball use.
Fast forward to 2018 and the decision was made ( by the better teams ) to slow down ball use out of the back line because the reward wasn’t worth the risk. Defences were holding their shape better than ever and last line defenders were becoming interceptors and “ goal keepers “.
This meant that pin point kicking that could pierce an oppositions defensive set up became more important than sling shot speed.

If you have speed and great foot skills, you’re now the prototype mid size defender.
If you aren’t blessed with blistering pace but have elite foot skills, you can still carve out a spot in the back line of most teams.
But If you’re todays Sam Murray, the modern style has effectively reduced you to a list clogger on most AFL lists. ( add that Quaynor and Noble have already passed him by )

I wish him all the best, he made a mistake and has paid a very heavy price.

Murray's into some heavy training going by the most recent video he's posted on his Instagram page. Apparently using Danny Kennedy Fitness in the expectation of getting back cherry ripe for a pre-season (somewhere).

Yeah its weird.

AFL.com.au reported that he was (or will be) delisted. But nothing official from the club.

Theres reports that other clubs are interested and one suggesting we may ask about a late compo pick, which would seem unlikely.

I stand by the club if we decide to f him off after what happened. But sheesh, imagine if he goes to another club and becomes half decent.

There seems to be a bit to play out here, but from what I can tell, he is still on our list. For now anyway.

I believe he hasn't officially been delisted but has been told he won't be offered another contract.

That means if another club wants him now, they have to trade for him. Once we delist him he becomes a free agent but not before.

Do we rethink this? Or is it gone, gone gone?

Other clubs can get him for nothing in the preseason draft if they want to. No need to trade anything for him. Honestly, do we need him? Noble has been a better replacement, and Quaynor will play more in 2020. Murphy will get a go. We're fine.

official now.

Dees among the teams having a look. Deserves to be cut, but would spew if he becomes a decent player at another club.

I wouldn’t have delisted Murray. Keep him on the rookie list as his strengths far outweigh his weaknesses imo. Shame
