That's what our aim should be to score 13 to 14 goals or more and we should win

Why don't we just kick 20 or 30 goals to be on the safe side, then we should definitely win

The stats would seem to indicate that Ratugolea will be the likely relief ruck option for Geelong.

If Roughead is played back on Hawkins I wonder if we'll keep it simple and just get Moore to follow his opponent in Ratugolea into the ruck.

Outside of that I wouldn't be totally against the idea of using Roughead in the ruck deep inside Geelong's f50 with Moore rolling over on to Hawkins with Grundy stationed around the 50m arc as that kick down the line marking option.

This is great news and makes things easy if roughead plays defense. Ideally we might want grundy going up against the rat to dominate for 5 minutes. No idea how good the rat is but surely he would get owned?

Am I missing something ? I would expect a Stanley / Blicavs combination in the ruck, particularly if we go with a shorter forward line. Rat might take a throw in or two in the forward line but Stanley and Blicavs seem like better options around the ground. Stanley followed Grundy all over the ground in round one and it kinda half worked. Grundy has since elevated his game and Stanley not so much.
They may also reconsider their talls if they choose to factor in likely rain.

With the expected outs of Madgen and Schaz our defence should be faster. Varcoe's expected omission, represents the changing of the guard, with Thomas seemingly seen as more to offer now and going forward.

We will smash the living daylights out of the pussies tomorrow night.

It's possible Blicavs could be used as the relief ruck option but Geelong seem to generally want him either as their full back or 1st ruck option.

In 15 of his 22 games this season he hasn't recorded a single hit out.

In 2 of the remaining 7 games he was their 1st ruck option and shared duties with Stanley in another.

Ratugolea has recorded hit outs in all his 17 games this year.

The school of thought is that Blicavs is Geelong's best full back option and because of his unique athletic capabilities he'll take whoever we play out of the square be it big or small.

To me it's more Brown than Thomas keeping Varcoe out as he's become the best pressure player of the 3 IMO and personally I think he just wins clean ball more consistently in tight situations than the other 2 also.

I’m nervous Wills will be omitted.

He’s been so vital for our midfield, enabling Treloar and Pendles to be more damaging just outside of the pack.

Don't be Rick. Buck's knows the impact wombat has had in the midfield in recent weeks.

It seems the outs are just Madgen, Shaz and Varcoe.

No Moore. That's huge, but can't afford the risk of him breaking down. Apart from Roughie, our defence is going to be undersized against the Cats forwards! Wet, stormy night, we've gone with speed and ground ball winners. I love the ins, Sidey JDG and Stephenson. I feel a bit for Varcs, he was hitting form recently.

Well, selection was always going to be difficult.
It's a big ask of Brody Mihocek, as the only tall forward, but then he's the kind of player that will probably relish the challenge and will definitely give his all.

PS Hang in there Shaz. There's still another finals game to go, come what may:)

I/C John Noble, Callum L. Brown, Josh Thomas, Rupert Wills

A very impressive bench IMO.

That’s probably on the money Swoop. Blicavs was rucking more recently but as you said he was totally a KPD in his last match at least.
What would make sense to me is Blicavs takes the ruck in defensive 50, the Rat in the forward 50 and Stanley plays a kick behind the ball between the arcs. That would give us a bit to think about.
They would be desperate for Stanley to have a good game and if he doesn’t, it will be the Cats going to their plan B early.

Guthrie also misses with an injury. That’s a bit of a win for us. He’s a versatile player

I for one, thought Noble would be omitted.
It’s a credit to the young man that they see enough in him to be trusted in such a huge final and in front of a full house.

He’s going to learn a lot about himself tomorrow night and so are we.
Go get em Johnny.
