We all know how good Brodie Mihocek has been this year, and it’s little surprise that he is currently leading our goalkicking, with 36 for the year (2 ahead of Jordan De Goey). The question is: has anyone ever achieved that before at a club after beginning the season on the rookie list? It seems like it must be a pretty rare – if not unique – feat!

I just hope he averages 2 or more in the finals.

After starting the season on the rookie list, probably not - since the new rookie arrangements mean that clubs can leave starting 22 players on the rookie list. That said, Podsiadly topped the goal-kicking for Geelong in a premiership year, after being rookied at three clubs. He was, though, elevated to the senior list when he did so.

Luke Breust
Eddie Betts (Blues Rookie)
Billy Gowers (did it in 2018 for Bulldogs)

Off the top of my head

We’re they on the rookie list at the start of the year when they topped their club’s goal kicking though? That seemed to be the issue David was raising.

Looks like Gowers did indeed do it from the rookie list last year. Nice pick-up! Betts was never a rookie though, to my knowledge, and Breust took nearly a decade at Hawthorn to achieve this.
