Run out!! Buttler is gone at the non-striker's end!

They didn't need to wait!

Head nails the stumps with the underarm throw.

Athers: "Buttler is miles from home. ... Sounds like Stokes had called him for the single. ... Pressure after lunch has been built up by Lyon and Hazlewood. Australia has been superb after lunch."

I think it was Head who misfielded last ball of Lyon's previous over. Travis, you are forgiven... for now. Wink

England 6/253 (102.2).

So, anyway, this is one innings where Buttler won't be humiliated by the Australian bowlers.

Stokes hits the short, wide ball for 4.

The target is 102 now.

The run out looked like it was Ben's fault. Woakes is in now.

Woakes (?): "Middle."

Warne thinks he'll play his shots. He did in the previous Test or two.

Deep backward square. Fine leg.
Paine: "Up here to midwicket." (Instead of mid on.)

Woakes gets off the mark.
Stokes is 48*.

Holding: "Another beautiful day at Headingley."

The crowd chants something stupid.
Holding says Stokes stands between Oz and likely victory.

Hazlewood is getting bandaging on his left hand on the boundary.

Stokes gets the single to keep the strike. More cheers.
The target is 100.

Paine: "Come on, Nathan."

Stokes tucks it around the corner and sends Woakes back!

Paine: "Ohhh, yes, Gazza."

Warne says the line around off stump looks more threatening than the straighter line.

Stokes gets to 51*. Cheers erupt.

Hazlewood gets to bowl to Woakes.

Warne: "No leg gully. Just a bat pad and two slips."
Warne think Woakes may not take on the short ball, but try just to ride it for a single. He has a reputation as a bit of a compulsive hooker...

Woakes holes out to mid off.

England 7/261 (106).

Chappell: "Hazlewood's been really good in this spell."

Jofra is in. Chappell thinks "he'll play a few shots".

But it's Stokes on strike to Lyon.

Man at silly point, Holding says, so the line will be more off stump.

Warne: "Don't get too straight to him. Make him think about playing a sweep shot across the line."

Holding: "Almost played it there, but then he thought better of it."

Stokes gets a single, and Lyon has two balls at Archer.

Khawaja is at slip.

Archer survives.

Warne praises Head's run out, as we watch the replay.
He says Ponting was one of the best for hitting the stumps.
Yes, yes, yes.
Mark Waugh, Viv Richards, Warne adds.
Clive Lloyd, Holding adds, before he hurt his back and moved to slips.

More replays. Excellent fielding, that was.

Warne: "I was very lucky in the Australian sides I played in."

Archer inside edges Lyon over bat pad and safely to ground.
It was Marnus.

Archer survives the over.

----------------------------

Pattinson now.

Archer flicks the short ball for a single.

Warne: "With one ball left, you'd think he'd bring the field up."

Belatedly, some come up, but Stokes gets the single. Misfield! They take two.

Nasser: "The crowd still believes. While there's Stokes, there's hope."

Lyon is off. Cummins in.

Three men out for the hook.
They can ride it and get a single, says Nasser.

Archer cuts Cummins for 4.
Gower: "It was a poor delivery."

Next ball, Archer ducks under the bouncer. 89 runs needed.

Mixup. No run. Then the stumps are hit, and they get an overthrow.
It' all happening.

Archer nicks on the bounce to Warner at slip, but Pattinson appeals for LBW. Not out.
...

Archer defends as if the ball kept a bit low. He was on the back foot.

Archer hooks and misses. Paine appeals for caught behind. Not out.
Gower: "Misses it by a comfortable margin in the end."

Maiden. Still 88 runs or 3 wickets required.

Lyon is back on.

Nasser: "There's no one on the slog sweep for Stokes."
There is a silly point.

Gower: "I think it's very good from Tim Paine that he's kept the two slips, he's kept the silly point."

Stokes gets a single through the off side. Three balls for Archer to face.
Nasser says Lyon should bowl not too full. Get Archer reaching for it.

Archer slogs for a single. Gower disapproves.

Stokes down the pitch, drives Lyon for 4.

82 needed. Drinks.

---------------------

Healy: "Australia have got to bowl really well to Stokes."

Pattinson to Archer.

Pattinson is straining and strays down leg. Archer misses.

The crowd applauds Archer's defensive stroke.

84.4mph.

Another maiden.
