Here we are... relying on other games to make the top 4 (assuming we beat essendon), or be in an elimination final in week one.

3 games that got away really stand out; the round 1 loss to the cats (7points), round 11 to freo (4points) and round 16 to the hawks (4 points).

Just one of those and we'd be a top 2 chance going in to next week.

For me, it was the season opener, seems like yesterday.
I was watching it in the wetty at work and felt we were in control for the most part, how we let that one slip away is still beyond me.
The non call of a touch in the goal review against freo was another that we should have got the chocolates.
And bloody Hawthorn!... we really need to turn the tables on this mob! What is it? 1 win from the last 12 contests?? Evil or Very Mad

We're still a very big chance to pinch the flag, top 4 would be nice but having to rely on others is a bastard.

Great post, was left lamenting those same 3 losses this afternoon after that whingeing shit Riewoldt kicked the winning goal against the "UNHELPFUL" Eagles

Sorry, I can only agree on 2 of those.
The Freo game was not our fault, the score review fk'ed us up a beauty there!

We should have won the Hawthorn game.We were 18 points up in the last quarter in a really low scoring game, yet somehow we stopped and let them over run us in the end.

Same applies for the Freo game.

Even after the disputed goal from the third quarter, we still managed to hit the front in the last and missed a couple of chances to go over 2 Goals in front.

Should not have lost it from there.

The AFL face the embarrassing possibility that we will miss out on a rightful top 4 position purely because of the farcical nature of their goal review system.

They're happy to suspend players and talk about the integrity of the game being paramount when someone is found to have placed a bet on themselves or their team but what about the integrity of making sure the result of a game is the correct one.

I’ll tell you one thing for certain, if he & I were the last 2 humans standing on the face of Earth, the human species would be done & dusted with my death.

This is the issue that really gnawed at me again, as I watched us slip once more to fifth at the end of the round. That failure to review Mayne's touch on a Freo goal could have serious adverse significance for us, when all is done and dusted.
I tried to tell myself like others have here, that we should've won the game regardless, without relying on that, but it's plain infuriating when you see such passages of play reviewed in many other games.

Hawks game irks me the most, I'm still not over it. Freo, we never looked likely and rd 1, well, that's rd 1.. it happens.

IT I what it is, hey, I like many here, rue the massive lost chance to steal the flag last yr, we led for nearly all the game, save for last minute or so, then to have it snatched away by some dumbshit yellow maggot, who surely must have seen the Maynard incident, but paid a cheating mark. Maynard gets the free, who knows how it would have gone. we may have held on. I would have been happy for next 3 yrs had we won, that one. As it is, we wont get top four, but then again, we did lose our first Final last yr, but still made the GF. Its in the lap of the Gods now, at least we should go into the Finals with Moore, Stephenson, de Goey, all back and firing, at least, to add to our players now. !
