He, or any AFL grade player, doesn't have to be fit to play amateur basketball.

No one is worried about whether he's capable of playing low-level basketball.
The question is whether he needs not to be playing basketball to rehab properly.

Levi obviously thinks so.

He shouldn’t IMO, not during the season, even if not rehabbing, it’s part of his job description surely to at least try and keep or get himself right to earn those big bucks.

Just out of curiosity what is a players base salary, wether he plays or not? Just the most basic, as I’m sure some posters think it’s a storm in a tea cup, and bucks may have laughed, I did too, but it still pusses me off. Team first.

Under the CBA, there is an increase in the total payments from 2017-22.

The minimum salary for a player depends on their status.

In 2018, minimum base wage for 3rd-year plus was $105,000. (For a first-round draft pick, it was $95,000. For a rookie it was $75,000.)

Average total player payment for primary-listed players was about $375,000.

How much above minimum someone like Sier is I have no idea.

Wow cheers for the info,

And I reckon it’s more than a fair expectation by the employer to do the best you can to rehab and get back on the field.

What I still can't believe is that our players who do the wrong thing continue to lie about it, thinking they'll get away with it. The truth always comes out, particularly with their profiles. They're kidding themselves. So much for team and club culture.

Young Phil was trying to do more exercises to speed up recovery. Not that he was trying to bet on the basketball game or something. Not that he was drinking heavily in an inn.
Lets move on and leave him alone.
All the best Phil.

That's the culture problem. I have to say we have more than our fair share of DUMB AFL players.

Hanging on to theirteen years a tad too long! Give talented kids an easy well paid job with an ego to match, no surprises, it’s the age of do before think. Very unprofessional but no surprise, obviously who ever is giving them the talk is not doing a good enough scare the hell out of em job!

If it was C grade mid week mens there wasn't much risk of injury.
The only players that actually run in those games are the 14 year old sons that are filling in for their dads. Other than that its walk, shoot, repeat.

There are some here who'll say it's not much money, but it's way more than the average salary.

What if a fat middle-aged guy stumbles and falls across your ankle, snapping something?

K, I have been wondering about this in regards to Brody Mihocek, who for some unknown reason is still listed as a rookie.
You highlight the word minimum. The club would be somehow reimbursing Brody way above the rookie wage wouldn't they?
