Collingwood finishing top 4 is simple.

We win our next two games.
West Coast beats Richmond.
We go ahead of Richmond on percentage.

As I said, it's simple. But it won't be easy.

Not entirely that simple. Even in that scenario, we’ll still be in a percentage race with Richmond where they will be trying to beat Brisbane by more than we beat Essendon. But given the calibre of their opponent, I would be feeling pretty good about this.

(Honestly, on form, Brisbane might have a better chance of knocking off Richmond than West Coast do anyway.)

Brisbane play Geelong and Richmond

Richmond play West Coast and Brisbane

Best scenario would be Geelong thump Brisbane and West Coast beat Richmond this week, which would mean in round 23 Richmond and Brisbane are playing for a top 4 spot

That is of course Collingwood win both games

I don’t think we can catch Brisbane – almost 8% difference means about 120 points need to be made up. They’ll be very competitive at worst in their games (I actually expect them to beat Geelong), and I doubt we’ll be putting either of our next two opponents to the torch.

Another possible outcome that no-one is mentioning is that we lose one of our next two, but Richmond lose both of their games (not inconceivable!) and the Bulldogs beat the Giants (same). We still finish 4th in that scenario!

To make top four, we need to win both remaining games with Richmond losing at least one of their final 2.

Thats it.

The ideal situation is we play Geelong in week one.

That's about as succinct as it gets. And it's completely accurate.

Come on the Eagles (and Pies - don't drop a game please).
Alternatively Eagles could lose both games (to Tigers and Hawks) and we could leapfrog them into 4th.

Either way we need to beat the Crows this week and hope for the best.

Firstly we need to hold up our end of the bargain. I reckon somehow if we do we will sneak in. Richmond are due to lose and depending on what Brisbane do this week could even finish 3rd

^ There's also % in play here too. If Richmond end up needing to win and gain % on us in the final round (to reclaim 4th), then they will know exactly the amount they need to win by - we won't have that benefit.
We really need to hope that Geelong smashes Brisbane, and West Coast smash Richmond.

Given what the Bulldogs did to them, we should have no problem beating the Bumbers by 100 points in round 23, thus boosting our percentage way beyond reach of the Tigers. Cool

True, but only if we merge with the Bulldogs.

Really hoping the Pies win the next two games. I'd love to see us finish top 4 to give us the best possible chance. We've sputtered a bit lately, sure, but I don't think we genuinely fear any of the contenders.

I live in the US, and I try to visit during footy season so I can at least get myself a fix of footy. This year, due to work, I can't get away until late September. At best, I'd be in Melbourne for Grand Final week and the following week...

...so either Collingwood make the big dance, or I'm in Melbourne for the latest iteration of the Who Cares Cup.

GO PIES!

You know, perhaps it's best I don't visit during the season; I didn't get home in 2010 and watched the game in New York. I did visit during the season last year...

I am not concerned , a bit wary more I think on final round with the internals at Windy Hill
Speculation that ultimatum laid at Woosher,s door that Bummers must make finals with alleged repercussions to his future

They may be backs to wall and desperate—-we must bring A game to the G
