Stone on as sub fielder already. This is just cheating. The ICC need to clamp down on it.
If you pick a player who's coming back from injury, that's your choice. They have to field.
England did this cheating in the ODI WC too, when the thug Roy came back from injury. |

Khawaja out to Woakes.
We're right on track for a three-day Test. |

They didn't call a wide for either of those balls from Stokes, right?
If they don't count as wides, then the ball needs to be off the pitch to be a wide. |

And now another one almost off the pitch, but this time with Smith on strike, so at least it was on the off side.
No wide call. Have they just eliminated wides from Test cricket? It's silly. |

No. But it's always been the case, in Tests.
With so much limited over cricket, these days, we tend to wonder about widish balls in Tests.

Either Anderson is injured or Root is clueless.
4 overs for such a bowler. More than a head scratcher.

He's coming back from a calf injury. He's also an old man by fast-bowler standards. He's the reason they didn't want to pick Archer, also coming back from injury.

Not a bad start from Head. |

They pitched over two feet down legside. If Stokes were faster, they'd have been four byes. |

So, England gambled on an opening bowler (Anderson), in the opening Test of an Ashes series in a match where he'd normally bowl 50 overs or more. Crazy. _________________ Donny.
