We lost 7%. That’s huge can’t catch Geelong or gws. Eagles winning a game they should have lost and us losing would have been a 2 game gap now we’re stuffed having to play hawks eagles tigers giants and also crows away _________________ Most of my favourite bands start with "M" - Mars Volta, Mastodon, Megadeth, Metallica, Midnight Oil, Misfits...except King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard ~ |

Thomas has no impact.
Ditto daicos varcoe cox brown and sidey.
The midfield were thrashed.
The most scary thing was the way north midfield
just brushed off any tackles with impunity.
It wasn't until the last quarter that bux threw the side around.
Too late bux.
Almost certain we cant win this year.
I saw the vfl today ..... not much there except a few kids.
Who haven't got afl bodies yet.
And for those people who said that we had
collected the greatest midfield ever.
Well that is the greatest joke of all time |
Are you forgetting that we have a "Couple "??Of players out as Johnathon Brown informed us?Lost Reid virtually straight up, Sier got cleaned up in the first ten minutes and was useless and went off at half time. Howe, Dunne ,Langdon, Adams,Wills,Wells,Elliot, Stephenson, Beams,Goldsack and a couple of extras who aren't regular senior players. So have a bit of a think about how these players are going. We're still second on the ladder and next week we butter up again and see what we're made of. |
We were physically smashed.
Not going to win when you are monstered.
Physically weak sides dont win finals.
The whole year we have relied on our back half to win.
Even tonite i thought the backs did reasonably well.
But you cant have a midfield that runs on the outside with no grunt.
Varcoe needs to go up to the wing or back flank.
He has no impact forward.
Same with Thomas.
Phillips has a great tank and gets the ball.
But he got brushed aside tonite in the physical stuff |

If JDG’s legs don’t allow him to play in the middle then freakin’ tell us! I’m sick of having this beast at our disposal and he wastes away inside 50 week in week out. _________________ Est. 2002 |

You may have assumed too much on the basis of making last year's GF, Haff.

We need to get back to hunting the opposition. Lately we have been too passive, allowing the opposition too much time and space waiting for turnovers (playing bruise-free if you will). Tonight we were hunted and we didn't bite back. You have to be aggressive whether you like it or not. _________________ RED "BABY" CAVANAUGH: Didn't hear what the bet was.

Looking at the Dogs belt out there song like theyve won a final right now. |
Yep, anything can happen week to week with the even nature of the competition. I just wish someone would knock the arrogant Cats off big time!! |
Well Port did it only a week ago. Thought the Crows were going to do it to for a minute there. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

We looked below ordinary for this entire game, but as others have pointed out, within 10 minutes of the start, we had two players injured: Ben Reid off the field, and Brayden Sier incapacitated. I did not realise this until I read a poster who pointed this out. This would explain Brayden Sier's non presence during the first half.
We have an injury crisis of a magnitude greater even than last year, and with the loss of Stephenson as well, this has now become critical.
Josh Daicos and Callum Brown in the same team was not sustainable, under conditions where we had no real inside midfielder for the whole game, given Sier's incapacity. Maybe that was NM's plan all along: knock out Sier, and we have no real inside midfielder. I think Bucks should have tried JDG in the centre after Half time, but maybe he was scared that he would be injured as well.
We are in a desperate situation right now. the team is down on form, and injuries are ravaging us.
In the short term (Ie next week) we face real issues, given the gravity of our injury crisis. If you thought last year was bad, then right now it is a nightmare. _________________ Free Julian Assange!!

I agree. Alot of truth in this. I think we changed our playing style to avoid the injury crisis we had last year. The irony is: we still have the injury crisis (even worse), but are playing with far less vigour and intensity. _________________ Free Julian Assange!!

I agree - it's not good. Obviously, if we can get Tay and Jamie back soon it will help.
Just another point that was mentioned in the game thread - when did we start going down the boundary line so much??? Why have we lost the confidence to go through the middle? The team was obviously instructed to do that more in the third quarter and played a little better. Is it because the mids are not running hard enough to get clear in the middle? Is it because we've played our last two at Marvel and it's a SH ground for creating space? |
