Elsewhere (I'd say "in other news", but it looks like this is 14 years old)...

"Liverpool relied on a dreadful goalkeeping error to take its winning run in the Premier League to 16 matches.

Georginio Wijnaldum’s 70th-minute volley from the edge of the area went straight at Dean Henderson, only for the ball to squirm through the legs of the Sheffield United goalkeeper and gift the league leaders a 1-0 win at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

Henderson is on loan at the promoted club from Manchester United, traditionally Liverpool’s fiercest rival.
...

Liverpool has opened the Premier League campaign with seven straight victories and has now won every league game since a 0-0 draw at Everton on March 3. Two more wins and Liverpool will tie the record of 18 straight Premier League wins, set by Manchester City in 2017."

"Champions Manchester City have lost more ground on Premier League leaders Liverpool after a shock 2-0 loss at home to Wolves.

In other games, Arsenal climbed to within a point of City after a 1-0 win over Bournemouth, and Chelsea won 4-1 at Southampton.
...

It was City's second defeat in their last four league games following the 3-2 loss at Norwich City last month and it will increase Liverpool's belief that they can win their first league title in 30 years."

It's a nickname referring to Newcastle supporters or the town itself.

Apparently, it's a Geordie pronunciation of "town".

Thanks for the explanation, Jezza.

Man. U is fast becoming a lesson in not getting carried away by caretaker coaches' initial results. Will Shaw & Teague have similar trajectories?

But, as the media said long ago, it'll be much cheaper for Man. U to sack the current coach than the high-profile ones.

----------------------------------------------

Is now the time to bet on Liverpool? The problem is: they were never huge outsiders, so there may not be great odds.
