If we have to trade for grundy wanting to go home then this year is the year.
Contracted for 2020 then we have the whip hand.
Looking like grundy may well win the brownlow so couple with his age and so far no injuries he may well command 3 top picks.
We lost beams but gained crisp and JDG and the pig I think.
Must make the best of the situation.

Plus he will be a premiership player and the BOG on the last weekend of Sept... So four top picks.

Under no circumstances should we trade Grundy.

Trade our number one ruck for the possibility of two top ten picks making it? I think not.
He could lead us to a couple of flags in the next few years- why give that up for anything.

So many times you read and hear about other teams needing that elusive piece to the jigsaw puzzle because they think they are in the premiership window.

Our time is now, who knows what tomorrow will bring let alone a 'prized' first round draft pick or two. Stuff that, Brodie is a gun, we've all known it from the moment he pulled on our jumper, "Look at this young guy, 21 and playing like a seasoned ruckman, imagine how good he'll be when he matures". Well that is now and he has delivered in spades on his promise as a young player. GTFO of here that I would trade him for anything.

wouldn't it just close our premiership window immediately? i'm not sure we should just give up like that.

How likely is this to happen? All the signs point to him staying.

Sorry to presti35, but I hate this thread, especially its title.

BG stays for the rest of his career!

The Carlton pick Adelaide will receive, which will be 1 or 2. Then the Crows first pick, which will be around 13 or 14 somewhere. Riley O'Brien, a 23 year old ruckman that looks fairly good but only 13 games to his name. Jake Kelly, a player we should have drafted already.

Thats 2 very good picks and 2 players, including a replacement ruck. We'd have to give them another pick in the second round or something. We could then look to sign an older ruck like Kruezer, Ryder or Goldstein to cover the loss for a year while we're still in the flag window. We could also on-trade these picks or even hit up Coniglio as a FA.

We need to convince Grundy that this is his home and that life after footy is very long and he'll have the rest of his life to live in S.A.

But if he chooses to go to Adelaide, then we can turn that into something big.

Blues & Crows swapped picks, so Crows get Blues 1st rounder and Blues get Crows 1st rounder.

He’s contracted to the end of next year. I don’t feel worried at all about him leaving. Seems very happy here and you can tell he’s not money driven.

First priority, sign Reilly. Second priority, get Grundy?

https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-06-26/first-priority-sign-reilly-second-priority-get-grundy

"The Magpies would all but certainly demand two first-round draft picks – with one of those the prized Carlton selection that currently belongs to the Crows – as part of any deal for Grundy.

Grundy, as the most dominant ruckman in the competition and coming into his prime at age 25, would also command a salary of $1 million per season or more."

highly unlikely that a two time premiership ruckman would leave a two-time reigning premier....
