How 'bout Shaw to Swans and Longmire to Roos. Razz

Scott Burns has also been linked to the Roos job.

A coaching merry-go-round might happen at the end of the year.

The one I've heard touted for North is Longmire.

J. Niall says

Scott should coach again, don't know where, don't know when

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/scott-should-coach-again-don-t-know-where-don-t-know-when-20190525-p51r4b.html

"Scott's graceful and relatively amicable exit from Arden St is a tribute to his pragmatic reading of the play. ...

Many coaches would have held the club to the strict letter of their contract. Scott, though, recognised that his time was up and that to continue on just for a contract's sake would be selfish and serve no purpose, other than his short-term fiscal interests.

In the long run, his reputation will be enhanced by his principled stance.
...

Rival clubs have been abuzz with talk about Scott potentially joining St Kilda, speculation based on the intersection of two realities - the first is that Alan Richardson has been coaching for his career this year, the second is that his football boss Simon Lethlean is a close friend and admirer of Scott's.
...

But even if the Roos scrounged the $1 million-plus via a benefactor, I doubt that their playing list has sufficient talent to attract a proven alpha coach in 2020.

More likely, they will need to look at the ranks of assistant coaches, and at least discuss the likes of Brett Ratten and/or Michael Voss. Is there another candidate like Chris Fagan - an inspired left-field choice by the Brisbane Lions? Maybe.

Logically, North face the same challenge in attracting an alpha coach as they did in luring A-grade players. Leigh Matthews said on 3AW on Saturday that he had advised Nathan Buckley against accepting the North job that Scott ultimately took because the risks of a less resourced club could end his coaching career."

Wow. I wasn't expecting there to be Collingwood content in that article. It's possible that it would've been better for us if NB had spent 5 years at NM, making all the mistakes with them and getting experience before joining Collingwood.

Big question is, was Scott acting in the best interests of the club or himself, by putting forward that maybe it was time for him to move on.

Here's some good news: https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-05-27/its-just-hearsay-jk-shuts-down-talk-of-simmos-roo-return

There's just a little hint of some potential for this to interfere with the Wiggles' focus.

Momentum grows for Michael Voss

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/momentum-grows-for-michael-voss-20190531-p51t3t.html

"Eagles boss Trevor Nisbett tried to talk Voss out of entering senior coaching without an apprenticeship - something the AFL Coaches Association has virtually barred following the James Hird experience at Essendon - but his advice fell on deaf ears. Nisbett firmly believes Voss would be coaching Gold Coast or Brisbane now had he served his traineeship at West Coast."

Voss to NM makes some sense. For NM, the problem is they cannot catch big fish, players or coaches, so if they want one they may need to accept one with possibly big personal or footballing flaws.

If another coach gets the job at North, I wonder what'll happen to R.Shaw?

Back to Sydney?

Back to Collingwood?

Stay at North?

To another club?

New coaches usually like to bring in their own assistant coaches.

Rhyce has 11 weeks To prove he’s the right man for the job. Not a bad start. The Players clearly Love him and I reckon they musta thought Scott was a useless flog like I do.

"If the Eagles do not allow Rawlings to start with North until post-draft, he will be unable to be part of the process of hiring the next senior coach of the Kangaroos.

Ideally, the Kangaroos would like Rawlings to be involved in their coach search - or at least completely comfortable with the appointment - given that the importance of having the senior coach and the football head aligned.

Rawlings is set to replace Cameron Joyce as head of football, as North complete a major revamp of their football operations amid a review of club operations that has already seen Joyce's exit, following the resignation of Brad Scott.

KPMG staff will be assisting the Kangaroos in the review, with former KPMG chairman Peter Nash, club great and ex-director Glenn Archer and board member Brian Walsh completing the review."

"Brad Scott has been appointed the AFL's competition evolution manager in a revamped football operations department ahead of the 2020 season.

After cutting ties with the Roos in May last year and sitting out of football for the remainder of the season, Scott will begin the newly created role from next week.

Scott will assume much of the responsibility left by departing AFL coaching innovation and education manager David Rath, who has joined St Kilda full-time.

While assessing game trends with various stakeholders including players, coaches and analysts, Scott will also work closely with the Competition Committee."
