The angles we saw on replay didn’t clearly show contact, but they didn’t clearly not show contact, and one doesn’t have to be a genius to work out how the St Kilda player ended up dazed on the ground. |

Very unfair that Varcoe will miss the game against Sydney. A game where he would have worn a top designed in his sisters memory. I think it's very suspect that certain players are getting off whilst Varcoe cops a week.
I mean if it deserves a week, then fine. But why are other offences being let off?
I expect Collingwood will request to wear the indigenous top later in the year? A home game at the MCG, possibly against the Dockers the following week? With Freo in their white top, it wont clash. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Question for me was it worth a week —I have doubts and sure it was medium impact at worst it was regulation hip & shoulder (do we still have that) IMO
This new Match scrutiny and consequent penalty delivered is extremely flawed _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

I thought it was about right - reckless but not malicious. Could have done some serious damage especially with his brother on his back.
He played a good game but it wont hurt to rest his legs on a trip to Sydney _________________ We shall set our course by the stars and not ships that pass in the night |

Varcoe was always going to be suspended for that hit IMO.
The opposition player was vulnerable, he was bent over with his head over the ball and Varcoe elected to bump.
This is exactly the scenario that has the potential for disaster and why any contact made to the head is generally not ignored by the MRP.
While I agree the most forceful and initial impact was shoulder on shoulder no doubt the momentum of Varcoe's body saw his hip/buttock area make contact to the head of Phillips also.
One week seemed about right to me given it thankfully didn't result in any serious injury or concussion. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Gee that’s interesting if he feels hard done by and it affects his relationship with club
Hope it doesn’t cause a rift _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Spot on. One week did seem like the right outcome with this. It's the inconsistencies both with Chrisso as the MRO and the tribunal that make it hard to accept.
Had Varcoe still played for the Cats....we probably see a different outcome. |

I've been led to believe that we'll be wearing the indigenous jumper Vs Fremantle. But I've seen nothing "official". _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

So if we have a good win tonight, Wells goes alright and any of de Goey, Adams and Moore are right to return we drop another player just so Varcoe can wear this jumper.
Not sure I like that philosophy.
Smells of hubris when selection should be all about picking our best side and deciding next week whether Varcoe is in that side out of those available. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |
