Yes, I had to bench myself for a breather when Cripps put them in front. I went outside and stared at the washing (even thought about hanging some of it up) and when I came inside we were seriously struggling. Obviously those couple of minutes on the pine for me did the trick - Carlton barely touched the ball after I came back to watch the end. Wink

Did you at least put it in the dryer??

26 free kicks to 8. They’re up in arms over at Talking Carlton.

And the many holding the ball/incorrect disposals they got away with. And holding/chopping Ben Reid all game. And Josh Thomas who should have got a free when the player dived in front of him.

If there is a battle for the tall forward positions between Ben, Mason and Brody, then without any doubt whatsoever I reckon Mihocek has first dibs. His work rate is enormous, he is so important for structure forward of centre, he does so many influential things, not all of which are always obvious and contributes all game, with his strength and stamina.

They're lucky they got 8. A few of those were very soft.

Anyway, I think they got one free kick for every AFL-standard player they put out on the park today, so 8 is about right.

Also, they got away with a lot of scragging of Pendlebury and Grundy - they're lucky they didn't give away about 50.

Agree. Mihocek offers more all over the ground than Cox. Reid needs to have more impact on the scoreboard but as long as he makes a contest I think he keeps his spot.

Considering the blokes we had out, especially Cox, and down to two on the bench just glad we got there. Please eddie, just STFU from now on, do not say a word re our opponents. Anyway, we cocked it up for three quarters, they were fired up, yet we ran over them, so all good in the end. Im happy, as david parkin said post game, good teams win games like that, ldown for long time, but hit back and win,

My favourite stat from this game - the only player on the ground from either team who did not have a score involvement was ... [drum roll] ...

Daisy Thomas.

We kicked the last 5 goals of the game without missing, blew them away in the last 5 minutes. Until then we looked disinterested and tired to be perfectly honest and it really looked like the Blues were going to pinch it just through sheer hard work and desperation.

Somehow I feel like the best side for the day didn't win, hard not to give the Blues a lot of credit, they really had a red hot crack. I just struggle to understand why last week we made a point of hitting Port hard early, put a young side away quickly, but today against Carlton we just didn't come out with the intensity we would expect and to put it simply gave Carlton a sniff and they took full advantage. Right up until the last 5 minutes where a barrage of heroics was required to avoid a very embarrassing loss.

Are we deliberately trying to take some games to the death, practicing our ability to win a tight game, given our GF capitulation? Every game we take to the death when it really shouldn't happen makes me think so.

Anyway, time for drink and watch the last 5 minutes a few more times. How close to squaring the all time ledger are we now??

Sometimes the best wins over the old enemy come after giving them real hope, them smashing that hope to pieces. The more I think about it the better it feels, or maybe its just the single malt Aberlour.

On the radio they kept saying how slow he was... although they weren't bagging his game otherwise...
